We just left Paris yesterday morning. We were on a Trafalgar Tour of France that started in Paris. We added extra days. At the beginning, on arrival day, we walked around to see The Lost Generation sites (Hemingway home, Joyce home, Place de la Contrescarpe for coffee, Shakeaspear and Company bookstore) , went to Notre Dame, and Place De La Concord, where we took a cab to Hard Rock Cafe. Our feet were tired! lol
Things we did in/around Paris for 5 days:
Walked around the Latin Quarter
Notre Dame
Muse D'Orsay
Arc de Triomphe
Champs Elysees
Eiffel Tower - to the second floor
The Louvre
Versailles
Place de la Concorde
Seine River Cruise
Napoleoln's Tomb and the museum
Moulin Rouge
Luxembourg Gardens
Omaha Beach and the American Cemetary
We were with a tour group so we had no wait for Eiffel Tower, Versailles or the Louvre. I think that made a huge difference! The only thing we didn't do that we wanted to do was Sainte-Chapelle. We were going to do it on our last morning before heading to DLP but we got up late and missed it.
We used the Paris Open City Bus Tour to get around. We were undecided for DLP but leaning towards no, but the bus tour had a special for 71 Euros that included the bus tour (which is 31 Euros on its own) and admission to DLP 1 park 1 day (which was 72) to be used within 7 days. DLP for 40 Euros? How can I pass that up? lol
I'm sad that we didn't see Sainte-Chapelle but I am glad we went to DLP. It was a perfect weather day and also the crowds weren't bad at all. I was worried because it was a Saturday but it was great! I really enjoyed having my last day at DLP. Our hotel was near the Eiffel Tower so we rode the Metro to that stop so we could see it one last time then walked on home to pack. It was 11 on the dot so it was sparkling. It is beautiful when it is sparkling like that. It's magical.
What I would do is make a list of your "must dos" for Paris. Then if you get them all done, then go to DLP on your last day.
