Actually we are coming form Caen in Normandy. How do we get to Disney from Caen, probably by train. Coming in October, 2011.

Then we return to Paris for 4 nights--How do we do that? Can we buy a Paris Visite pass at Disney station to cover our travels for the next 4 days? Would that pass also cover a trip to Versailles?

Thanks,
Tony

From Caen you would have to come into Paris-Gare St Lazare (can take between 1h45 and 3h depending on the time of day and type of train) and then go from there via the metro to the RER A at Auber and then take that to Marne La Vallée-Chessy which is the stop for DLP.

For the train part you can book your ticket in advance on the SNCF site

You would go back to Paris on the RER A (takes 40mins to central Paris)

You could buy a Paris Visite for 5 days (they don't do 4 it's either 3 or 5 days) at MLV-Chessy but in order to use it going back to Paris you would have to buy a 1-5 zone and it costs 51,20€. Whilst in Paris you only need zones 1-2 so the cost is not the same (29,90€) and it might be in your interest to buy one way RER tickets into Paris.

Are you going to be doing a lot of travelling in your 4 days in Paris ? as there could be other transport options more interesting for you such as carnets and or a mobilis the day you want to do Versailles

Versailles is in zone 4 so it is covered by the Paris Visite if that's the option you choose

HTH :)

Thanks for the train instructions. What are the "carnets" and "mobilis" for getting to Versailles? Most of our Paris time will be museums and walking around the river so maybe a 5 day pass isn't necessary? Depends where we're staying, I guess, we haven't booked a hotel in Paris yet.

Thanks again,
Tony

A carnet (car nay) is 10 single tickets that can be used in the metro in Paris and on the buses again in Paris but also in the whole Ile de France region.

When you travel on the bus with a ticket you can make as many transfers to other buses as you like within 1 hour of your ticket been stamped

They cost 12,70€ for the 10 compared to 1,70€ per ticket if bought separately.

A Mobilis is a 1 day travel card which like the Paris Visite is for certain zones. It can be used on all buses, metros, trms and RER within it's zone for a one day period.

Zones 1-4 (so you could go from Paris to Versailles and then use it back in Paris that afternoon/evening) costs 10,40€

A single ticket from Gare St Lazare to MLV-Chessy on the RER (and in the other direction to any where in Paris ) costs 7€

I have done the journey as described by Carrie Cat and would just add that it is a quick and easy walk between St Lazare and Auber if you do not want to bother with getting the metro between these stations.

Very true :goodvibes if you don't have a lot of bags and depending on the time of day it can be quicker to walk cutting through the back streets (rather than past the department stores) to Auber.

St Lazare is a major pain atm with the renovation going on and various exits been closed and passages blocked off :sad2:
