Paris in the Spring!

My brother and SIL bought us two Easyjet flights to Paris for xmas. We go on the 24th of March.

Plus, we get to go without the kids!!!!!!!!!!

I've only ever been to Paris once, and that was back when I was single, and the whole thing is a bit of a beer induced blur, and the only sights we saw had the words Stella and Artois outside them.

Any tips on nice hotels, best areas of Paris to stay, things to do etc??

Many Thanks

Craig

What a wonderful present Craig :) !!!

It's been a long while since I went there but I do remember enjoying cruising down the Seine and seeing Paris from the river, also watching the artists near the Sacre Coeur but there's so much more!

I'd check out Bridge Travel Service Paris brochures for hotels, they are pretty reliable. There's also this site http://www.hotels-paris.com

Here's a link to the English version of the Paris Tourist office - http://www.paris-touristoffice.com/index_va_v2.html They are pretty comprehensive.

It would be interesting to know what you decide to do - do let us know!

Nothing booked yet..too busy planning WDW trip in August ;)

I know nothing about Paris or the best part to stay in so any ideas please let me know

most of the centre of paris is within walking distance of main
attractions. wouldn't recommend staying outside the periphherique.

The pigalle is the red-light district & rather seedy , though is still home to the Moulin -Rouge.

Would def recommend a trip up the Eiffel tower, one of the best times to go is tea- time before it gets dark. Then stay up until it does gets dark. Lots of the main buildings in paris are lit at night, a great sight.

you can climb the Arc de triomphe (spell?) too, My DH loved it at the top just watching the traffic aroung the Arc!! it also contains a small museum dedicated to Napoleon.

The louvre, home to the Mona Lisa is huge it would take days to see everything. Great shops underneath though.

A more managable museum is the Musee d' Orsay

There's a Disney shop on the Champs-Elysees, which is on a corner. The street leading from there, sorry don't know it's name contains a great & cheap chinese restaurant.

i do envy you having a trip to WDW to plan

Fantastic

Thanks for all that.

I'm most concerned about where to stay.

I've been told to go (and stay near) the Latin Quarter as it is cheaper and also very nice.

Any views?

Craig

Sorry don't know a lot about the Latin Quarter but haven't heard anything bad. I know it does have small but good restaurants

Craig we've booked.

Hotel Berne Opera which from the name is Near the opera.

We booked over net & used www.hotelclub.net

Got hotel cheaper than othe r sites we tried. Prices are in Euros but a currancy converter is available if needed.

Cost £131 for 2 nights for 2 people.

Fingers crossed it will be ok.

There are peoples opinions on the site which we found helpful:

Good luck with your search.
