Parents, would this bother you enough to act on it?

So you are saying it is just like my dd's middle school? HA, a perfect match.:lmao:

I think we could prob find a group of kids like that at almost every middle school, high school or college campus . Heck apparently even adults act like this, these aren't young 20 year olds on the show.

I am sure that they are not going to allow drinking, fighting and cursing in the talent show.

Not sure what you are worried about.:confused3

Im not worried about it, you just mentioned you haven't watched the show and had no idea what is so bad about it . : )
Of course they aren't going to allow the kids to do all of that in the show lol.

I have seen some of the show. Frankly it is no different than any of the other trashy reality shows imo.

I don't get worked up about stuff like this. Let the middle school kids have some fun with their talent show. I am sure the school will enforce "school rules" so I see it as a non issue.

I understand the OP's point that using the Jersey Shore show as a theme is kind of giving a stamp of approval to the idea that the middle schoolers are all familiar with this theme and it is an appropriate theme.

My question would be, if the teachers are so upset about it, why aren't the teachers/administration doing something about it?

I'm worried about the message that it sends to the kids. To me it says "This show is cool, lets emulate the kids on this show because the things that they do are cool and I want to do them too." That's what I'm concerned about. If we, as parents and teachers don't teach that decency is always the right way to go, how will they learn it?

Exactly. If the moms there are anything like some of the moms here, I am sure they were trying to be the "cool mom".......

The kids in my dd's middle school are already doing the things they do in the Jersey Shore and we are in the middle of MO and they probably do not even watch this show.

I am not sure how you think a talent show will lead to the corruption of the youth.

Values are taught at home. Middle school is a cesspool of crap even without the Jersey Shore.

This is probably the case. Honestly though, if this came home with my kids I wouldn't have given it a second though mainly because I have never watched Jersey Shore, no one in my family has watched Jersey Shore and we wouldn't know one way or another if it was appropriate or not :lmao:. If it wasn't for this board I probably wouldn't have even heard of the show.

it bothers me too... it is disturbing, a PP mentioned this goes on in middle school anyway, i guess I am naive

anyway can u talk to the woman and find out what she means by jersey shore? what the skits are like etc...

snookie is the MOST POPULAR Halloween costume this year, so all i picture are 13 yo running around with bump its on their heads!!!

Please update us and tell us what it was like

Do the middle schoolers get drunk? Do they pick up members of the opposite sex and take them home and have sex with them without even knowing their names? Do they refer to members of the opposite sex in degrading terms and discuss their sexual prowess openly?

Do the middle schoolers have a "smush room"?? :scared1:

Yes. Except in order to go to a "party" you have to have sex with the guys as price of "admission".

No, I think those are actually the teachers in the middle school. :rolleyes1

(I'm joking, honest, I am)

(or am I?)

Ok, that was funny! :rotfl:

But do I think the theme is inappropriate? Yes. It sounds like it is too late to do anything about it now. . .that boat has already sailed. But I would casually mention it to somebody on the administration. Clearly somebody there dropped the ball. In my experience, anything like this has to be approved by the administration. I think they weren't paying attention and probably need to be reminded that clearly some adults on the PTO don't have the best judgement. :thumbsup2
