Parents, please label your children

Here's a product I ordered last week- still haven't gotten them yet so I can't really comment on their quality but they look pretty effective and they've won some kind of parenting award (according to their website). I like the fact that they're re-usable so if your contact info changes, you can just change the info on the inside without having to re-order. I'll post again when they get here. The tags themselves were only $4.45 but S&H is $5.95 (flat rate) so I ordered 3 sets to share w/my nieces and nephews....

Here is another tip. Our last trip was our first ones where our kids were not stroller bound most of the time. I took their most recent picture and gave one to hubby and grandpa. On the back I wrote their name, age, weight, distinguishing marks, etc. I did this because it would be very hard to describe the kids if I were distraught.

I've always wanted to label the kids as well. But I have a question. If you find a lost kid are you going to think to look on the inside of his shirt? (I would be scared to thinking that the kid was afraid I was doing something that I shouldn't). Do you tell your kid if they get lost to show it to someone?

Thanks

Does anyone have any feedback on this product. I am wondering what you write your info on inside. Is it a paper or just plastic. Or is it a dry erase material. Can you change your info inside?

I found a website where you can order a free sample of the KidTagz but it says you must be a retailer, daycare center, school etc. I don't qualify for any of those so I went ahead and placed an order online but I know there are a lot of teachers & school administrators who read these boards that might be interested and could give us a review- here's the freebie posting below....
(I will post a review when I receive the tags I ordered )

I have used wristbands from www.identifymychild.co.uk to tag my lot (I have twins of 5 and a 7 year old). We always hire a mobile phone and write that number on along with details of the hotel or motel where we are staying.

Hth someone.

I bought a lanyard off Ebay for myself {that has the plastic holder} and DS liked it and wanted his own.

So I bought him a Lilo and Stitch one that also has a plastic holder on it also. I plan on taking two little file cards and putting them together in the holder and putting stickers on them. On the inside write DS's info and all the other stuff like cell # and that. That way if someone {who doesn't need to know his info} happens to turn over the plastic holder all they will see is more stickers. When he meets up with a CM or security he or they will have to take the file cards out to find out his info.

i bought these for my kids for our trip. they are waterproof and nothing is seen from the outside so noone would know the childs name unless the child showed them. also they were really cheap.

I just wanted to share an experience I witnessed that made me feel better about how Disney's CMs handle lost children.

It was a few years ago and DH and I had stopped by the restrooms near the Odyssey at Epcot. If you aren't familiar, the Ladies and Mens room are around the corner from each other there. Anyway as I walked around the corner to meet DH, I saw a young boy (about 7 or 8) come out of the restroom, look around and start crying "Mommy? Grandma?"

I kid you not, within seconds a CM was right there. A little old lady I hadn't even noticed who was carrying a broom and dustpan. She started talking to the boy and within minutes another CM appeared to help too. I didn't even have time to react to the boy's distress before they were right there taking care of it. I was SO impressed!

I don't know how it was resolved since we went on about our day assured that the CMs had it under control. I assume "Mommy and Grandma" were probably around the corner in the Ladies room and the CMs reunited them quickly.

I know if DD were ever lost I'd be completely frantic, but seeing that certainly reassured me that Disney seems to have eyes everywhere and the CMs are really good at handling these situations. Hope this makes some of you feel better too!

Walmarts and such have machines where you make small tags instantly (similar to a dog ID) for any use. They are not expensive. You can put name, cell numbers, etc on it.

We put them on the bottom cross of the shoelace on our little ones shoes. Noticable to others but not removable by child. They almost thought the little shoe decoration was neat. There are different shapes and colors, let them pick their own !
