Looking for a "good" over the counter medicine and.or face wash for my dd11. She is going to be 12 soon and got her first pimple the other day...yeah - it is starting!
Any recommendations? I don't want anything too harsh for her skin - just a simple and safe face wash or cleanser and/or medicine. Emphasis on simple! :)

thanks!

Simple (and works soooo well) It's a Tea Tree Oil Bar sold at Sally Beauty Supply - a generic of "Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil" Bar...

I actually prefer this generic one, to the Paul M one (maybe it's just the price?!?!?) It's a HUGE bar, that works so amazing - I use it daily, and have done so for years...

And it costs all of $2.50.... so youre not out much if she doesnt like it.

i got my dd a container of noxema to wash her face with every nite. it seems to work and does'nt have the medicine smell other products have.

i've also never let the kids use bar soap on their faces (i have'nt for years) only facial cleansers, the ingredients in the bar soaps seems to clog pores more.

I'm a teen, not a parent but Clean and Clear has good products. You can find that brand at CVS or any other store (even Wal Mart). I personally use the Stridex face wipes, only because I'm too lazy to deal with the scrubbing and rinsing. They work pretty well, but are more drying than just the basic face wash, because they actually have acne preventing stuff in them.

too much "pimple fighting stuff" might irrate her skin and bring on MORE breakouts.

start her off with Cetaphil (generic is fine)...with some clean and clear "spot treatment" for the occasional breakouts.

I find, even in my late 20's, if I put too much "crap" on my face, I break out more...or if I switch to new products too often I'll have a reaction.

My dermatologist has alway recommended Dove. Just a simple bar of dove.

Another option though, is Cetaphil. You can use it with water or without. Its a very gentle cleanser.

Great ideas - there is just so much stuff out there and it has been a few years since I was a teen. :) thanks!

I swear by Phisoderm daily wash. I have very sensitive skin, I use this in the morning and again at night. You can get it at Walmart.

If she gets a pimple, have her put a little tab of neosporine on it before bedtime. That should help clear it up.

Another vore for Cetaphil. Both DD (11) and I use it. I've tried everything on my face over the years and this is the cheapest and the best. (I use the liquid for oily skin)

If she has oily skin, try the Clearasil facial wipes. Much easier than a soap and water routine, and it removes the oils and grime that will cause acne.

Another vote for Cetaphil. My DD is 12, she had her first pimple last year. She also uses Clearasil acne vanishing cream for the ones that just pop up, and usually by the next morning they are gone.
