What would a 14 year old boy be jazzed about getting for Christmas?

Let's say $30 - $50 range.

I found out some info about the boy. He likes all sports and apparently plays soccer. He is described as liking all the "typical" things that 14 year old boys like.

How about a gift card to GameStop? He could pick out his own video game. That's what we're getting DH's 15 year old nephew.

It depends on the interests of said boy. Some boys love video games some don't, some boys love sports some don't, some love music, some don't.

Its hard to say without knowing anything about him.

How about $35-50 dollars? Haha. :thumbsup2

Seriously, what teenager doesn't love cash? :teacher:

I agree with the PP who said that it depends on what his interests are. I have a 14 yr old boy who likes video games, model trains and his car. So for Christmas he's getting a couple games, a couple pieces for his train set and some car parts.

Movie tickets are also great.

Cash is always wonderful.

Our nephew is 13. For a while we were giving him gift cards to Game Stop. Last year we started just giving cash and a small gift for him to at least have something to unwrap. This year it's two Stephen King books...he's a horror fiction fan but has never read King.

Gamestop card (games change quickly as my DH14 just told me) and anything that involves food... DS14 said that his friends are starting to go to the mall and do stuff, so $5.00 gift cards to different food places would be greatly appreciated.

How about a docking station for an ipod (if he has one). Other than that cash or movie gift certificates are good. Or fast food gift cards in $5 increments for when he is out with friends.

I told people to get $5 gc's from starbucks, subway, and tcby (dd13's after school places).

I have 3 nephews - 13, 14, & 15. They wanted money, video games or gift cards.

Since their Mom said no more video games, I got them tickets for the local hockey team, movie gift cards, & fast food gift cards.

I wanted to give them more than just the cards/tickets so I filled a box with candy & treats and put the cards in the box so they would have something to unwrap. Their Mom doesn't buy junk food so it will be an extra nice treat.

Does he like sports or have a favorite team? In Indy you can pretty much get any age a Colts sweatshirt, and you are good to go!

My DS is 14.

In that price range, I would consider:
* video game
* movie bucket - popcorn, candy, DVD (even if it is an "old one" from the 80s), etc
* t-shirt, sweatshirt or hat from favorite professional team or college
* a book about something that interests him (lots of sports ones at book store)
* poker chips and "poker for dummies" book
* any supply he may need for his sport (if he has one)
* many kids that age if into sports are starting to work out more to gain strength/conditioning/etc - so hand weights, medicine ball, pull-up bar, jump rope (manly sports kind, of course)
* music book (literally with the music) if he plays guitar or drums

Xbox Live Membership, or Microsoft Xbox points...

or.. Gamestop GC, Mall GC or even some movie tickets

I agree that it totally depends on the kid - do you know any of his interests? My son is 14, but so is my nephew. DS is totally into Rubik's Cubes (and many mutant variations of ;) ) and hardly anything on his list came from this hemisphere (all from Hong Kong, China, England, etc.), but in the price range. He also wanted a set of mallets (percussion) and a mallet bag, and a new tennis racket and tennis bag. I can't imagine my nephew wanting or needing any of those things. Meanwhile, he and his family are heavily into Nascar, so some of the things I got him were based on that. So on the flip side, if my son opened up anything Nascar, he'd be less than thrilled!

Without knowing what video game system he has and what games he already has (and if you don't want the gift card route), it's hard to buy that for him. So many of these suggestions would be great for one kid but not another - my son would be less than thrilled with any sports team stuff and whereas sheet music (as suggested) would be great for him, a CD wouldn't.

Think for this age you really need to ask about his interests, unlike for a 4 year old, where there are many things you can assume they'd like. Or risk giving a "gee thanks  " gift!

DS14 has a nerf gun and gift cards on his list this year. Subway, Target, etc. for the gift cards.

Here's what my 14 year old boy is getting:

2 Wii games
a train calendar
a book about passenger trains
Up DVD (he loves all Pixar films)
a Snuggie (he wants it for when he's sitting at the computer)
pajamas
Target gift card
shirts
socks/underwear

My DN 15 prefers cash but I feel bad he never really has anything to open. So I went to Hot Topic and bought him a "cool" (DD who is one of his BFFs says he'll love it) necklace. I'll tuck a $20 in with it. In the past I've also gotten him a wallet with cash tucked in it. If you were to get him an Itunes card as suggested you could wrap it with a pair of new headphones. Some really nice ones are on sale right now and the kids are always needing them. I think you'd have the best of both worlds if you did something small with cash/gift cards. Teens really do want something to spend more than anything else.
