parents not suing

I can't imagine both parties reaching an agreement in such a short time. Also, couldnt fathom spending a dime of that money.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Graves family.

That was my first thought- seems so soon. I can understand why one would settle- it would drag on in the courts and would be broadcast again and again. My heart breaks for the family. May they find some kind of peace.

Like this, this is what i mean. I am not so cynical as to beleive that hte only reason teh family is not suing is BECAUSE they were paid something already. I think tehy are not suing becuase tehy do not think it is the right thing to do and do not feel a need to unfairly push for payment.

Did they probably get offered and accept some funds anyway? Yes; I imagine they did and I do not blame them----but to assume the worst about them, that they WOULD sue otherwise, yeah, well, I am not going to do that.
Disney made it worth their while not to sue, by giving them a huge sum of money and making them sign a non-disclosure agreement. If pointing out the obvious makes me a cynical *******, I'm ok with that.

Losing a child in such circumstances I doubt I would be able to put one foot in front of the other for a long, long time.

I hope in time the family find some peace.

Yet I'm sure the mortgage company, the utility companies and the rest would still expect to be paid.

Money can't bring their child back. We all know that. It can't dull their grief, not one iota. But it can buy them the time, space (and therapy) to move forward at their own pace.

Any settlement is going to include a non-disclosure agreement, no matter the dollar amount. We can guess and assume all we want, but none of us will ever know what Disney agreed to in order to settle the matter. I'm just glad that it was settled quickly and with little fanfare.

An NDA wouldn't have terms that say they can't acknowledge a settlement has been made. An NDA could only mandate that the terms of the settlement are kept confidential.

That's pretty much what I meant, but, thanks?

Well right now neither side is even acknowledging that a settlement has been reached. Often with high profile cases there's some generic press release from the attorneys of the victim that a settlement has been reached, the terms are confidential, and the family requests privacy.

An NDA can mandate anything the parties agree to. There are no "can only mandate...". The NDA can most certainly include details as to whether or not, or exactly how an agreement can be disclosed. That's the whole nature of an NDA.

And that was probably stipulated in the NDA. That's what they're for...

I've been part of 2 incidents at Disney .. The last one was pretty traumatic and my DD and were witness to. The only witnesses to pretty much.

We were detained for a very long time giving details to the police ..into the wee hours.
They advised us , we could be called to testify but likely wouldn't "because Disney tend to settle these things out of court "

I'm sure that's the case here ...and thank god.
These poor people have been to hell and back.

Now you know you can't do that to all of us!!!!
