I know our trip seems like a long way off but I've already got a rough draft going for our itinerary. I was working on it last night and came across a dilemma.

We're planning an evening alone for hubby and me. We had originally planned on leaving the kiddos back at the resort and felt comfortable with this since they'll be 10, 12 and 15 when we go on our trip. Our kids are very responsible and are used to staying home alone from time to time when we go out for an evening of alone time. My eldest asked if they could go to Disney Quest until closing time, or possibly catch a movie at AMC in Downtown Disney, then hop on the bus back to the resort. Personally, I'm somewhat uncomfortable with this, not because I don't trust my kids (they're well behaved) but because 1. I'm afraid they may get lost (first time at WDW), 2. It would be late at night (11:30 or so) 3. Too many crazy people out there. My husband is actually considering allowing them to do this but as I said, I'm not too comfortable with the idea. I'd feel better with a compromise and allowing them to hang out at the resort arcade until closing, and then they would just walk back to the room. What do you all think? Have any of you ever allowed your kids to do this? Is it easy to get lost at WDW? What time do the resort arcades close?

I'm a grown woman and I know I could easily get lost trying to get from place to place at WDW. I would think twice about this. I would have no problem letting the kids "hang out" at the resort.

That's my gut feeling. We'll have cell phones or radios but I worry that we won't get reception and if we try to call them or they try to call us in an emergency, we won't be able to get in touch. Hubby thinks I'm over protective but my motto with regards to the kids has always been better safe than sorry.

You may want to consider letting them go to DQ and doing something adult oriented around DTD like La Nouba or PI and then just meeting them. Just a thought
