I sent my parents to WDW on my DVC points. They took a tour (they don't remember the name of the guide, will have to find the card).

They said they would only purchase if there was a monorail DVC.(wink, wink) Their guide told them that that was coming soon and it will happen at the same time AKV starts to build because AKV is expected to sell out in only a few weeks. I bet they mean phase 1.

They asked if it was at the CR and the guide said they could not say where it would be but DVC was working on coming to the monorail.

SO that could be the STOL, CR, poly, or GV..........

the guide then encouraged them to buy now at todays price and incentive because AKV and monorail DVC will be alot higher, but they could always stay at the new ones once they are built.

I would not hold my breath for Polynesian or Grand Floridian, something at the Contemporary or near it, very good possibility.

And I certainly hope you told them the facts on that statement. Yes you can stay there so that is not a false hood, they just never seem to explain how difficult that can be at certain times of the year. I would say that AKV and if there is a CRV, is going to be difficult to book at 7 months.

Yes, it is amazing to hear those guides say "You can stay anywhere you want using your points. Just book the other resorts at 7 months."

They aren't lying, you can book anything at 7 months but they should really be upfront and let people know that there are difficult times with the 7 month window at the smaller DVC Resorts in prime locations.

yes but both AKLV and if it is build CRV will not be small ones. So you will have a better chance than with BCV or VWL.

I don't know about CRV, but I don't see AKV being that tough.

When completed, it will be the third largest DVC resort -- 20% larger than BWV or about 2/3 the size of OKW. Sure, it's next to a park, but AK is not the same as being between Epcot and MGM, and so far there are no big festivals like F&W to draw people.

I'm sure it will be difficult during the holidays, but with 434 villas, I think it will be less difficult to book at 7 months than BWV...and BWV's pretty bookable much of the year.

DH and I stopped by SS a few weeks ago just to take another look at the models. The CM was telling people about the AKV and the CRV, saying they (CRV) would be built after AKV. He stated this as a fact, not a rumor.

:thumbsup2 would save a lot of headaches for new members.

okay my guide says that saying something that Disney had not announced could get you fired. if it was really happening.

I want the Cont back - but some people will say and do anything to make a sale. Now DVC sales staff is not surpose too. but hey it is human to spread rumors.

It will be a rumor until Disney (not DVC) announces it.

During our last trip (10/8 thru 10/15) I asked every guide I ran across where/when the next best thing would be...

stock answers were:

1) If you're a member already you're really supposed to direct ALL questions to your guide;

2) We're still selling out SSR ; and

3) You'll probably know before we do

I had to come back home & read the AKV big news that happened during our stay...here.:confused3

This is interesting , because when I took the tour in August and questioned the guide about the CR DVC rumors, he was very careful with his response, telling me that he has heard rumors of future locations, but could not confirm anything, because DVC could potentially have legal problems if someone bought into DVC based upon a rumor ("Yes, it looks like we'll be building at CR") only to have the rumored location not be built.

I found the same thing. The reps at the kiosks were not very willing to discuss the AKV. I found the odd one talkative, but most were not. I wonder if they have been told not to discuss it openly. Do not want a prospect overhearing and deciding that they will not attend a sales pitch for SSR since AKV will be available soon.

Just a theory.

Actually, on past trips I found them to be very talkative about rumored locations such as the CRV, AKV and anything else they can dream up. But once an announcement is made for a new resort, no one wants to talk about it.

Keep in mind the folks that work the Kiosks are NOT "guides" and as such have different info and differnent things they can say. Plus I think there is a strong tendency amoung Disney CMs to "make up rumors" (Your best source for "creative" rumors tend to be transportation CMs... they have been expanding the monorail thorough that black spot on the Swan for YEARS!!! They have a few other good ones too!)

I feel VERY confident is stating that VAKL will happen before any monorail..... Disney has announced an opening date for AK and hasn't even announced a formal location for a monorail resort....

Next time you talk to a boat captain, you should tell him you have an inside source that says it's not the monorail, but they're actually going to run a lightrail track through the black spot. LOL!!! I'd *love* to hear them start spreading *that* rumor. Would sure weed out the gullible guests quickly! ;) :rotfl:
