Parenthood: the show

Saw the first show and I immediately recognized the the boy was in the Autism spectrum. None of the characters including his parents seemed to though. But I'm sorry, the whole rest of the show was a complete turn off for me. I won't be turning it on again. But I don't have a neilson box anyway so i doubt NBC will notice.

Really?

That's my favorite part.

My sister's son has Asperger's & she cried and cried after she saw episode one. Then this week was on it a LOT and I cried as they did this whole scene on the dad not wanting to believe & spending hours researching on the internet and realizing his son has it & then turning it off & ignoring it so he could still pretend that it wasn't true. My b-i-l had the exact same reaction & wanting to "fix" it. I think that's typical. I thought the entire show was fairly realistic on the Asperger's thing, and clearly it was since you recognized it right away.

LOVE IT. It is very similar to Brothers and Sisters, which I also love.

i really like this show i think it has a great cast and will be looking forward to upcoming episodes!!!:yay:

I thought they tackled the Aspberger's issue head-on, and very well. It is such complex, misunderstood condition, it would be easy to screw it up.

Word on the street is that show turns around after Episode 3.

I've enjoyed the first 3 episodes. I think it would make sense to give it a few weeks to settle-in. The show has a big cast and it will take more than 1 or 2 episodes to introduce and develop the characters.

I'm finding the show funny-sweet, but not something I'm going to rush home to watch. It's a bit of a disappointment, given how much the show was "eagerly anticipated".

I think the show is great - I only watched the first one because I was a huge Gilmore Girls fan - but I love that characters are flawed and complex and face real issues - I love how each episode ends with the family all together.

I especially love the younger brother character who just found out he has a son, Jabar.

Does anyone else think she should get a job as a mechanic???

I am a big fan of this new show. I hope it catches on -- it's a winner.:thumbsup2

I loved it and hoping it stays on.

Of course people these days seem to be into disgusting shows like The Bachelor so I don't have high hopes.

For once I'd like an interesting character driven show to make it.

Totally agree with all of you:thumbsup2

Like a few of the PPs, I loved the movie and wanted to love this new series as well. But I found the pilot disappointing. However, I am sticking with it for a little bit since it usually takes a new show a few episodes to get it's bearings. And I am starting to like it more with each passing week. So here's hoping it keeps getting better!

In an hour or so, I'll be posting on the *** Television Fall 2010 *** thread what might end up being a spoiler for Parenthood -- be forewarned. (PM if you want to know the spoiler directly.)

We stuck with the show and its still great, IMO. Like someone else mentioned, it takes a while to develop the storylines and characters. Unline someone else though, I can't wait for Tuesday nights for it to come on.

It took a while..but the show grew on me.
I really enjoy it now.:thumbsup2
The little Columbian boy is a riot!
Ed O'Neil is perfect in his role.

Another show that I didn't care for at first was The Middle, with Patricia Keaton. (formerly of Raymond)
I think I had to give both of these programs a couple of months for the characters to develop. I'm glad I did. ;)
