Parent: Odd question about what your child wears to bed.

I've often suggested my son, he's 5, only where his underwear to bed. He wants his pjs though.

I just know how hot he gets at night but he wants to wear them. I would have no problem how he slept honestly, as long as he was sleeping! LOL

DH and I sleep naked
the kids wear whatever they want.
DS tends to sleep in his boxers and DD wears panties and a t-shirt but we don't have rules to what everyone wears to bed.

Our bedroom has a bath attached so its not like we wander around naked in the house. DS now lives away at school and DD can do what she wants

The only time DH and I wear clothing to bed is when there are other kids over. Our door is always cracked open so cats can move freely about the house, we wouldn't want to expose the neighbor kids to naked butts in the middle of the night:lmao:

my youngest son wear's flannal pj's yearround! a few years ago I quit buying him regular (summer weight) pj's cuz he would never wear them... my oldest son though, he prefers the least amount of clothes allowed... usually he's in a pair of boxers and MAYBE a tshirt.

as long as they are in thier room and in thier bed, I don't care - now in the common areas of the house... we do reqire clothing or pj's or something, but that's just us...

Well, I wouldn't let being naked stop me from running out of the house, but what kid is going to run out naked? They are going to want to stop and put on clothing, right? You don't need further distraction in an emergency type situation. Just my thoughts. I worry about this kind of stuff. :rotfl:

I actually think the opposite would be true. Most kids aren't body conscious and would run out naked without thinking about it. My DD doesn't go to bed naked but that doesn't mean she doesn't strip in the middle of the night if she's hot. She likes being under the covers so she'll forgo clothing if necessary. IMO there are too many other things to worry about than this.

Id never really thought about it cause my kids don't sleep naked. But I do make sure DS13 has something on. He sleep walks, and I and my DD don't want to run into any naked teenage boys in the middle of the night!:scared1:

I have always slept naked (can't stand to sleep while wearing anything) and I have started to notice my 10 year old is starting to follow in my foot steps.

I'm not worried about her not leaving the house during a emergency since she is nudist at heart and would go without clothes all the time if it was acceptable :rotfl:.

As for me, my bathrobe is always at the foot of the bed ready for me to grab it for whatever reason (emergency, need to go to the bathroom, someone at the door unexpectedly, etc)

My 8 year old sleeps naked. I used to make him wear at least boxer shorts and a t shirt, but he has sensory issues and just hates the way clothing feels when he's trying to go to sleep. I'm the same way, so I understand.

I don't know what my 18 year old wears, but I'm guessing either naked or boxers. He will come out of his room in boxers or sleep pants, but I don't know if he wears them to bed. When he was little, he wore pajamas.

I have on at least a sleeved shirt, because no matter how hot in the summer or how warm it is with a heater on in the winter, my shoulders always get cold. I hate waking up to that feeling.

Now the cooler the room, the better I sleep.

We've never set "rules" for sleepwear. As long as it is NOT the dirty clothes they wore all day (blech), we're fine with it. (And yeah, our son has tried that more than once. Lazy boy.)

We don't have a yard (live in a condo) so DS's clothes don't really get dirty, and he wore his yesterday-clothes to bed last night... Not a problem for us. :)

And some here can't sleep WITH clothes on...I can't sleep without 'em! Hate the feeling. Gotta have something on.

But even when it's hot I have to have some sort of comforter on me as well...just like the weight of bed-clothes and clothes, I guess.

DS has mainly worn pajamas, because they are so cute (but cotton only, the tight-fitting type, because otherwise he gets miserably hot) and I like to buy them, but sometimes he sleeps in whatever he was wearing that day.

He's 7 now and really realizing that he can DO something about it if he gets warm, so he's been sleeping shirtless the last week or so (we're in a warmer spell here). And just last night he talked about sleeping naked. I wouldn't have had a problem with it, I just doubted he would actually like the feeling...

i'm 20 and i sleep in a t-shirt and undies at school and at home. there's always a pair of pj pants next to my bed in case i get up to walk down the hall or something. i don't think i could sleep completely naked though

As a young child I never slept naked by choice. I was just brought up with wearing pjs and never considered sleeping naked - baring in mind I live in England where it's cold. I think in very warm weather I'd be adventurous and strip down to my underwear :P I'd never begrudge another child of wearing no clothes to bed though, it's a personal choice.

Yeah, I've been a naked sleeper for most of my life. If the house catches on fire I'll throw on a robe or wear a blanket. Even its its freezing cold or burning hot in the house I don't like sleeping in clothes. I'll put on short shorts and a tank or something right before bed or after I wake up on weekends.

The rest of my family ... they wear undies and never pj's. We just can't stand too much clothing!

Ever since our house caught fire in the middle of the night, nobody sleeps naked. It's not a judgey "oh you shouldn't" thing, it's just a practical response to watching the house burn down with one family member in his underwear.

The teen needs to not be naked because he snuggles with the baby in the morning while I take DH to the train. The baby needs to not be naked because I don't want to wash the sheets daily. Beyond that, people who *want* to sleep naked in their own rooms should feel free to.

When my now 20 year old, was little he was naked constantly. I got so used to him being naked, I have pictures of his younger brother.....with a naked older son, in the back ground playing video games, making a sandwich, playing with matchbox cars...etc etc.

He didnt do this, in public. It was only at home. I remember arguing with people about it. I said "He'll grow out of it!" And one year, before a Disney trip, he had stopped sleeping in the buff. I thought to myself "See? I was right!" Then he asked me if we could bring the electric blanket to Disney. I reminded him, we wouldn't need it. His face was pure elation when he said "Oh yeah!! It's hot!! I can sleep naked again!" It wasn't modesty, it was chilliness he had begun clothes sleeping, for.

Annnnnyways.....the kid is 20, and still sleeps naked. Thankfully he doesn't wander around the house nude, but he's still naked in bed.

And if you can't be naked and comfy in your own home, where can you be? :cool2:

. My daughter is very modest(she's 11), would never in a million years think of sleeping naked, and my son(9) notsomuch. He walks out of the shower and into his room with the towel flung over his shoulder. He doesn't care. But he's never shown any interest in sleeping naked. I would make him throw on a pair of underwear at least.
I never sleep naked. Last night my son came to get me at 4am because he had a bad dream. I don't want him seeing me naked and he sure as heck doesn't want to see his MOM naked.:rotfl:
Even before we had kids though, we almost always slept clothed. It feels weird to me to not have clothes on to sleep. I don't like it at all.

Right now, my kids are next to me in their PJs-my son in flannel PJ pants and no shirt(it is currently 79 degrees in my house, I have no idea why he is wearing flannel pants.), but more often in the summer it is his underwear and no shirt, or lightweight PJ pants or athletic type shorts, no shirt.
Winter he wears as much as possible, stuff like fleece PJs or flannel pants and a long sleeved shirt..he's always cold.

My daughter is wearing soffe shorts and a tank top. Pretty much her uniform year round, t-shirts more often than tanks though. She's always hot, so rarely wears warm PJs.

DD sleeps in just her underwear. She always has. PJs in our house are worn only for pictures on Christmas morning! If she has friends over, she'll sleep in one of my T-shirts. But otherwise, she's almost as unclothed as she can get. If she wanted to sleep naked that would be fine too. Why would it be a big deal to sleep how she's most comfortable? :confused3

I never gave any thought to exactly what our girls wore or didn't wear when they went to sleep at night. A lot of times, it was just a pair of panties (and I didn't worry about them having to run out of the house in case of a fire). If that concerned, they could keep a t-shirt on the bottom of their bed -- just in case. There are many nights that I start out in a t-shirt and take it off at some point in the middle of the night, because I'm too hot.

We all sleep in our undies only here. Sometimes I will wear a cami if the room is chilly. DD8 only wears jammies in the winter. We all keep a robe on a peg right beside our headboards, so in an emergency we can always throw the robe on quickly.

^ Good idea.

I've never slept naked, but I've been going in just panties for the past couple of weeks-for reasons I don't care to explain, I can't have a window fan so I just have one on my desk-because it's just been too hot. Mom and Dad probably don't even know, and wouldn't really care if they did. :confused3

I guess it should be a question of personal comfort level once you reach a certain age. Of course, I plan to live in Florida, so my future children will definitely be able to sleep 'nekkid' if they need to. I'd rather be comfortable than modest when I'm alone at home in my bed.

I've always slept in clothes. My mom grew up in a super modest family so she'd get very upset if I ever tried to strut around nude- she gets mad if I walk around in underwear and a shirt, even, and I've never even had brothers.

IDK but when I started dating DBF, one of the first things I noticed is that his family tends to walk around the house nude. He would walk into his house before me, call out and make sure everyone was decent before letting me inside. I've accidentally walked in on about every family member (mother, father, sisters, brothers) missing an article of clothing. Embarrassing.

There's a difference between sliding between your sheets sans clothes and strutting around your domicile with your bits and pieces hangin' out in the wind.

Modesty in the bed? What the heck are ya' doin' in there? Videotaping? :lmao:
