I've been reading thru the forums here, and just read two or three different threads where it is mentioned that if the parks are over crowded that they will not let you in....unless you are WDW resort guest.

We are going from Aug 26-31 and I'm just wondering how common this is that people do not get in. We are staying offsite and I'm very weary now of spending $756 on a 3 day hopper and then not be able to get in!!!

Somebody please put my mind at ease!! I've been reading about the Free Dining Plan, and am wondering if this will effect our chances of being shut out!!!!!

Please Please Please tell me this does not happen very often!

I've never once been to WDW when they had to close it off to further visitors. Also, I don't think they'd limit guests to only those who are staying onsite. They would merely go by how many are already in the park (onsite guests enter the same gates as everyone else) and close it off to further guests, for a while at least. I think they'd re-open the gates once a few people have left.

But keep in mind that there would only be two or three weeks a year where this could conceivably happen, and late August isn't one of those super crowded periods. Most kids are back in school by about that time.

You won't have any problems.

It does happen occassionaly at very high peak times . Having said that, you shouldn't have to worry. The last week of August is traditionally a less crowded time of year. That is when my family went 2 years ago (yes, we were on site, but not to worry), and we had no problems at all (barely even needed fastpass).

When people talk about the parks closing due to crowds, they are generally referring to Easter, July 4th, or Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.

This is correct....don't give it another thought! :teeth: While this does happen it is on New Years Eve and such holidays. When you are there it will not be an issue! Go, enjoy, have fun!!!

We were just there Aug 6 - Aug 13. We came and went in the parks as much as we wanted - never had a problem! I felt the crowds were heavy, but managable. We even went back into the MK on Friday night (was a extra hours night) and the crowds were bad, but we got right in! I would not worry at all! :cool1:

Your not going at a high peak time of the year so I think that you should be fine.

If, and I strongly emphasize If, they close parks off to additional entry they will start by closing the parking lot for that park. This is stage 1 and results in off site guests being prevented from getting to the park gate. At this point Disney resort guests can still enter using Disney transportation. If necessary they will proceed to stage 2 and actually close the gates at the park to all guests. This will never happen to all 4 parks at the same time no matter what time of the year it is [stage 1 or 2]. That said, as far as I know the only park that has ever been closed due to reaching capacity is the MK. Disney does guarantee park entry to resort guests at all times BUT only that at least 1 of the parks wil be open to them. Once again, as far as I know, there has never been a time when only 1 park was allowing people to enter. As stated by other posters the days to be concerned about are July 4th, New Year's eve, Christmas day, and maybe Thanksgiving day.
