*Paranoia alert* Should I change my date?

OK, I am so worried that my wedding is currently scheduled for march.....

But - looking around at the minute I literally know no-one who isn't ill.

Sickness, diarrhea, chicken-pox, flu....truly tis the season of illness......

Should I change to May? (Also changes the times from peak to value season.)

That's a tough call. I don't know anyone who's sick right now, but maybe that's because I am in FL. Just keep in mind that May could be quite hot and humid here, although March isn't that much cooler. If you're going to save a lot of money it might be worth it, also I know that March is a big spring break week so the parks will be very crowded. I imagine that May is a lot slower. Maybe you should ask some family and friends what they think.

March of this year? Considering there's only 11 days left in the month, it's awfully short notice to change dates of a wedding. There's never a guarantee, no matter what time of year, that everyone's going to be well at any particular time. Unless there are other reasons you are thinking of cancelling, I think I'd stick to the original plans. But that's just me!

Now, if you mean March of next year, I think I'd rather go for May...March is spring break for a lot of schools, so the parks are going to be packed.

Okay, Im' a dunce, I just noticed your wedding date in your siggy! Although it's definitely a personal preference, I'd go with May instead of March. Yeah, it's going to be warmer, but if you go in early/mid May, the crowds will be much more manageable, plus it would be during the EPCOT Flower Festival!

If you have I would talk to your guests and see how they feel about the switch.

Depending on the time in March the crowd levels change. The very beginning of March is not so crowded where as the end of March is a nightmare.

I have been in May as well. Many colleges let out in the very beginning of May and it can also be crowded as well. - never as crowded as the end of March.

I would also skip the first two weeks of April - I still consider them to be spring break.

I would go on to disneys website and look up the florida seasonal passes with the black out dates. I would always avoid any black out dates because the parks are alway overflowing at those times.

If May is dramatcally cheaper then it's maybe a good idea to switch. If its not a huge difference then I wouldn't make it the main reason and would go with whatever your guests want.

I wouldn't change my date based on people being sick this year. For what it's worth I live in Orlando and work in an elementary school and right now there is a nasty flu virus going around as well as strep throat. I was home sick with a terrible sore throat last week and at least 2 of my students have been out sick every day so far this month. Last year, however, I remember this sickness going around a lot earlier and being gone by March. I think it has a lot to do with the crazy weather we've had in Orlando this year. I did decide I didn't want an early March wedding for that reason. We had a few days early this month where the weather was miserably cold (but then 2 days later it would be back in the 70's). May hardly ever has a cold day but it is also more likely to rain. I would change my wedding date if it meant saving a lot of money and I wasn't attached to any particular date.

After being to Disney in March (early and late) and May (mid) I'd say go with May. While it is warmer, March does have a chance of a cold spell. Both times I've been in March it's been busy. There were almost no crowds last May (15-21).

I think the ilnesses you've mentioned aren't necessarily seasonal problems, things like chicken pox or sickness could happen at any time. Maybe you could ask your guests what they think?

I guess if it saves you a lot of money, it can't hurt to change it to May. I don't think I'd change based on people being ill this year, but then again my wedding date has sentimental valeu to me.

Does your date/month mean anything special to you? I think if it does I'd stick with March

That's DFTW, I think she was talking about the hotels being in value at that time.

Torsie, you're not crazy though - we're all sick in Maine! I just got over the cold from heck and there's a really pernicious flu that's going around. One of the many reasons I chose October is so I wouldn't have coughing and sneezing going around!

Originally because i wanted a quiet time at the start of the year (as I didn;t want halloween decorations up) and I didn't want there to be crazy heat or rain.

I thought that Pre-easter wouldn't be too bad for crowds too (but now I hear all about Spring Break)

Also, guy at my work just got the Norovirus......

People can get ill at any time of the year though - personally I would go with you have picked, I wouldnt want to send out new save the dates to say you had changed your mind. I dont think there ever is a fully quiet time of year at Disney there always seems to be an event going on in any month?

I understand your fears (I'm getting married on the beach during hurracane season) but I chose a date good for me and my FI and nothing will change that!

You have time so if you feel May is better do it, but think of how you are going to feel come March next year when you have to wait two more months!
