We usually stay at the PP, which we like for the size of the rooms, the compactness of the facilities (want a latte? - just take the elevator down) and the great fireworks viewing from the pool deck. I think the walk to the parks from PP is actually closer from PP than DLH as long as you walk through the GC. While we don't have young children, but for someone travelling with an adventuresome pre-schooler, the pool slide (which is a big slide that goes into a small puddle of water) might also be a factor in its favor.
We personally don't see the value in the PP concierge as we can get a decent continental breakfast of lattes, fruit and pastries or cereal from the lobby coffee bar for less than $10 per day per person. The hors d'ouevres & desserts at dinner time and alcoholic beverages were enough for a meal for us, but the "cost" of these offering was that we had to be there more or less at opening time (I think, it was 5 or 5:30) as the lounge filled quickly. Most of the time, we would rather be in parks at that hour and just grab a quick fast food meal.
In addition to the pool side concereirge rooms, there are also concierge rooms with park views. While you can request your choice of view, it is not guaranteed. We stayed on the 14th floor with a view of the Park; the lounge is on the 2nd floor. We had an AP rate that was $40 more for concierge per night than it was for a standard view room.
We have reservations to stay at the GCV in December but have never stayed there before so I can't really compare the PP with the GC. Best of luck in making your decision. -- Suzanne
