Paradise Pier Superthread

We are going to stay in a standard view room in Dec. This will be our first trip and my birthday trip.

My question is what time do the lights go out at DCA? I really want the theme park view but since the park closes at 8 or 9pm is the view worth it?

Make sure to let them know that you will be celebrating your birthday, and that it is your 1st trip---you might receive some pixie dust(don't expect it though;)!)

The DCA lights(at least some---it depends), stay on for hours after the Park closes---we're usually asleep by midnight, and the lights are still on---so pretty, and fun to fall asleep gazing at!::yes::

We definitely feel that the view is "worth it"!

Hello All!

I booked 4 nights at the PPH for a mom-cation next July -- going to help Disneyland celebrate it's 60th all on my own :yay:

I booked a standard view online and then ended up calling the next day with a question. While chatting with the wonderful CM as we waited for the computer to do it's thing I said something about being a military wife and the CM quickly interrupted and said "but you don't have a military discount on your reservation ~ let's see what we can do about that!" After a bit of searching she was able to move me to a Premium View with Concierge for the same price as the Rack Rate Standard Room!! How exciting is that? (She tried finding the discount on a standard room but nothing was available, oh well ;) )

I was wondering if anyone knows what view a "Premium CL" room had. Any thoughts?

I would really like a theme park view and to be as high as possible. Since it is just me, a king bed would be preferable but certainly not a necessity.

Just wondering what requests I should make. I was so excited about getting Concierge that I didn't even think to ask any of these questions while on the phone.

Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

We stayed premium CL in May and over looked California Adventures and was able to watch WOC every night from our room. We took full advantage of the Concierge Lounge for breakfast everyday and my son loved it. It's cereals, bagels, and pastries and fruit in the morning, snacks throughout the day, and a happy hour with appetizers and desserts.

I think you'll enjoy it. You can walk across the street and through the Grand every morning to get to the park which makes the walk a little more bearable and the staff is so very nice.

I don't know if you'll get a king as we stayed in a two queen room, but either way its super nice and you're in the Disney bubble :) Have a wonderful time.

Park View CL rooms are on the 14th and 15th floors of the hotel. My only question is, since you are a military wife, I would think your spouse would need to be with you to get the discount? They normally ask for proof at check-in with discounts of that type.

These are from my room this past May, we were in room 1434.

She said the military discount wasn't available so the CM gave her a free upgrade :)

Actually, it is a military discount ~ 40% off the premium CL room rate which is equal to the rack rate for the Standard room. :goodvibes Sorry if my post wasn't clear.

As a military spouse my ID will satisfy the requirement at check-in ~ I asked twice on the phone just to make sure :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for sharing your room view pics, they are wonderful! I also enjoyed reading your trip report :)
We are DVC members so it's been a while since I booked a Disney hotel room ~ SOOOOOOO excited!!!

OK, that's good to hear! My friend's CM discount was 50% off so our room was cheaper than a standard room at rack rate, which was great! Glad you liked my trip report. :goodvibes

I need to find a CM friend!! ;)

Or maybe one day become a CM ~ DH and I always joke that once he retires from the military and the kids are done with school that we are going to go work for Mickey :goodvibes

Heading to the PPH in a Premium view room tomorrow!! Any room requests I should add to my reservation??:cool1:

You could ask if a premium view corner room is available---they are huge, have an extra window, and are fabulous(at least the ones we've had)!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!!!:)

Hello, all! I just booked PPH for an impromptu one night stay in a standard view room to celebrate DD's 7th birthday. It'll be our 1st stay there. We are very familiar with the parks & DTD though.

Is appreciate some help with questions.
1) are DVC members eligible for the free parking like they are at VGC?
2) are coffee makers in the room standard or do you have to request them?
3) I heard they use coffee pods. Will my keurig pods work in them?
4) I heard on this thread that the bathrooms are small. We are a family of 4. Does anyone have any photos?
5) I know check in is at 3pm. Does that mean the room won't be ready until close to that time? Do they text you?
6) the pools are huge for us and I know they probably can't compare to DLH & GCH. How were they?

TIA! :)

Hi pepe3penelope!:)

I can answer a couple or your questions:

1. We're not DVC members, so not sure about free parking

2. Coffee makers are standard in all rooms

3. We've never used the Coffee makers, so not sure(sorry)!

4.Don't have photos of the bathrooms, but we've never thought them to be especially small---if all four of you;) won't be in there at the same time, you should be fine. DH and I can easily be in the bathroom at the same time(for example, DH brushing teeth, and me blowdrying my hair).

5. Check in is at 3:00pm, but we've been given a room much earlier than that, lots of times(Just don't expect it). If you're there at a less busy time of the year, the odds of getting your room as soon as you check in are really quite good(in our experience). They will text you if you request it.

6. The pool area is fine---not as luxurious as the GCH and the DLH, and no manicured grounds around it, but it is still fun, and really nicely kept(again, in our opinion). You might be a tad disappointed, having experienced the pools at the other two on-site hotels, but if you act excited about it, your little ones will probably think it's great!:thumbsup2

Hi, cheshirecatty!!! So glad to hear from you!!! Thank you for your input! I really appreciate it!

I saw that expedia had a sale last night! I couldn't resist! DD originally wanted to go to American Girl at the Grove by Farmers Market in LA for her bday. So I asked her about it & of course she said PPH! We will just be so excited to be in property again. We will be pool junkies and just relax and go to DTD!!! I think I may do a miniature TR on this (weekend of September 6/7) and for my bday day trip in October!!! :cheer2: :beach: :wave2:

Just booked PPH for 5 nights beginning Nov. 30! :cool1:

Super excited! Now to keep it a secret this time! Last year I booked GCH as a birthday surprise for DH and spilled the beans after a few days. :rotfl2:

Really looking forward to seeing the hotel dressed up for Christmas...

The coffee makers are pods like flat almost tea bag like looking pods. Keurig will not work in these. I never used the coffee maker in the room and just grabbed some at breakfast.

Didn't have any problems with the bathroom, the counter space is a lot so that was very helpful.

We checked in around 11am and got a call probably two hours later that the room was ready.
