hello all
We are an English family coming to DL on aug 1st for 6 days and have booked a standard room in paradise pier.
It's our 3rd visit with DD13 12 and 5. We will be coming down via San Francisco and Yosemite so this is the chaos and magic before our Tinkerbell flight back to London.

Completely gutted to just learn that our favourite ride thunder railroad is closed especially as DD5 has been eating her greens and has hit 40 inches so she coulld have joined us for the magical ride when the fireworks start ... Happened by accident on year 1 !

Anyway - its our first PP stay as we swopped the Grand California experience for more days.
We have been reading up and we are thinking of getting a pool side ( Cabana ?) room as for our kids it might make sense to have the patio to pool experience . Has anyone done this ... Is it a good option. We kinda like the idea of being able to be out in the open and not trapped behind a glass window !

I'd love the view room of the resort but in truth we are rarely in the room at night and during the day down at the pool so it would be great for one night then not really experienced after that. If we have a pool room with patio I think we can just run out and back to the pool In he morning which takes the hassle out of running up and down ?

Do these rooms have 2 double beds . Is there a sofa too plus the patio ?

Anyway - your views are welcomed.

I love the cabana rooms, but they are concierge only. The PPH's concierge is just ok. Saves money on drinks and snacks and light breakfast.
The cabana room we have always gotten has 2 queen beds - no sofa. The patio and easy access to the pool is what sells it for us. I love having breakfast on the patio and it does make the room feel bigger, because of the extra living space.
Our last trip was less than stellar there and we will probably not go back to PPH. We are spoiled with GCH and for us the extra price is worth the peaceful atmosphere of GCH.

I just stayed at PPH at the end of May and we were in room 318, we had a view of the park, could see some rides and when the water shoots up high for WOC we could see that. We had a corner room which looked bigger on the map on the door. It had two queens and a fold out bed on the couch.

We were close to the elevator but I didn't really notice it too much. We were right by the pool, just outside the door and past the elevators. It was very nice. I think if we go back to that hotel I might request that room again. I want to try DLH next time.

hope this helps

318 isn't a cabana room, is it?

Stayed several times in a cabana room and I was under the impression they are all odd numbered 300 rooms.

318 was a standard room it was across the hall from the cabana rooms.

Thanks :worship:
we stayed at DL hotel first ever time in 2006 before rennovation and GCH last - 2 visits 2008 and 2011 love both but we have a big overall trip including Yosemeti so money wise it was a compromise. 3 DD wanted to try new hotel anyway.
Will get a quote for cost - didnt realise had to go concierge as well - and maybe make our minds up on whole package - do like the idea of "expanding room size" 5 of us means it can get a bit cramped and we may use room better this way !

You will love the PPH! It's recently refurbished, lovely and clean!

It is bright and cheerful with a laid back beach theme.

The service and housekeeping are excellent.

The rooms are really good sized, and we have had amazing luck when requesting exactly the room type we want.(Keep in mind that requests are requests--NOT guarantees.)

If you want a cabana room, make sure to call the hotel direct and talk with/question them about all details--our son and daughter-in-law stayed in a cabana room, and they did not stay concierge, so it would be worth inquiring about for yourself.

If you can get a corner room(if you're willing to give up the idea of a cabana room), you will have that much extra room for the 5 of you--they are huge!:)
