Is Paradise Pier really worth the extra cost, especially if you don't get a resort view?

As y'all know, DH and I are coming down in a couple of weeks and are trying to save money on this trip. We've been to Park Place a couple of times, and while it's not the nicest of hotels, we really like how close it is to the parks and it usually suffices for our trips.

But, we're also interested in Paradise Pier. If we can get Park Place for about $60/night, is it worth the extra $40-$80/night to stay at Paradise Pier (assuming we can get a good deal there, too)? If so, why?

I have not stayed at Park Place but have stayed at all 3 Disney Hotels. The Paradise Pier is decent but just isn't as exciting as the other two and I would say particularly if you don't have a park view. We did have a view of DCA and that was nice but the public areas, lobby and such are not special. The PCH grill looks nice but the rest of the hotel is sort of bland. Going back and forth to the parks may be easier at Park Place so if you won't miss eclectic Mickey heads on your bedsread the Park Place will save you money for other things.

Wow - that is a tough one. If the money savings is really that great I would probably go for Park Place too.
I actually like PP (Paradise Pier) hotel and choose it over DLH to save money if staying on property. I like the fact I can walk right into DCA from across the street. Of course everyone will probably disagree with me but the DLH just doesn't do it for me - I have been there many, many times and the last few years I have started to choose the Paradise Pier. (Now my first choice would be GC but that really is too expensive and for us it is a rare treat.)
The truth is that we hardly spend any time in our rooms! So if you think along those lines why not stay at the Park Place?

So if you really can save some decent dough by staying at the Park Place think about what that money can buy you during your trip and that might put it into perspective. Walking across the street on Harbor is not bad at all and there have been many times I have been sitting waiting for a shuttle bus wishing my hotel was in walking distance across the street!

I've stayed at DLH once for a conference, and while it was really nice for the conference, I don't think it's worth the extra cost for a full trip. I do want to take DH over to look around and see that fountain show, though. But visiting for dinner one night is different from staying there.

So far I'm hearing no real reason to swing PP this trip...

I wanted to throw in that we have stayed at the Hilton for $70 per night. I think last time I looked it was $89ish.
It is a first class hotel with really nice rooms/amenities. they have a nice shuttle too. Its directly across the street from the park and the park views are not an extra cost....just luck of the draw. (we have always had a park view :) though.

just a suggestion. we have stayed at the Park Place Inn, Tropicana, West Coast Anaheim, Sheraton, and Hilton. :)

ok, nevermind...just checked and no deals at the Hilton. there must be a convention at the same time.
