I've been hoping to find a deal on a standard room at PPH in early December, either 12/3 to 12/10 or 12/6 to 12/14. I haven't seen any deals yet, so I went to the Disney site to price it at regular price, and it said no standard rooms were available. Does that seem odd 4 months out? Is there something else going on that I don't know about?

That's a popular time because crowds are low, I'm guessing a lot of people want to stay on site and the PPH standard rooms are the cheapest on site.

I get that. But that's always been the case. I didn't book last year for that same week until the very end of September and had no problem. I even got 20% of on cheaptickets.com.

Candlelight Processional is the 6th/7th but once again it was that weekend last year too.

Maybe people have more money this year to vacation with? Economy has been a bit better.

Not here. In fact, our health insurance just jumped 70% at our 6/1 contract renewal.

Although I do appreciate the brainstorming. :goodvibes

I am going to say that it is because of Candelight which is that weekend you are staying Dec 6-7. We are going Nov 30-5th and there are standard rooms still available so more then likely the standard room is just not available for the fri-mon and it is bumping you to a room that is available for your whole stay.

There's really no way that all the Paradise Pier rooms have disappeared this early in the year. It can only be that a very very large group of people are showing up (and I'm sure someone on these boards would know about such an event), or Disney's holding the rooms for the reason of driving up demand because of the low supply, thus driving up prices. :teacher:

I typed in a mock search on the DL site and that is the case if you search Dec3-6 and Dec 7-10 the standard room is available at an avg $292 for the first part $271 for the second. So it is the 6-7 night that is sold out.
Or if you are able to move the date out 1 day and do Dec 7-15 and the standard is available the whole time.

Hi! I don't know if you can change your dates at all, but I just typed in Nov.30th through Dec. 8th, and standard room rates(available for those specific nights) came up at $287 per night.:)

I came up with the same thing. :(

We haven't bought air yet, so I'm messing with our dates to see what we can do. I'm now toying with staying offsite our first 2 nights, using our magic morning the first day, then moving onsite so we'll get EE the rest of our days.

That is just crazy. I just put those dates in and came in with the same thing, and it includes the 6th. But when I put in the 6th by itself it shows no standard rooms available. :confused3

I wonder if it might be worth a call to find out what is going on?:confused3

I know that numerous times in the past, when I haven't been able to get what I wanted out of the rate calendar, I have called WDTC, and they have helped me out with no problem---I think only once, I wasn't able to get exactly what I desired.

I hope it works out for you!:thumbsup2

So, the systems at WDW do this too - the workaround is to book for longer and then call in to cancel the days you don't need. This should allow you to get the days you want.

Thanks, I think that's a great idea. :thumbsup2

So I just put in 11/30 to 12/14 and they show a standard room available. It seems to me like they are holding some rooms back on the 6th in anticipation of crowds from CP perhaps. But that they'll free one up if you want to come in on 11/30. Yet if I change arrival day to 12/1, it's no longer available.

That's some wild stuff.

I think I need to get something booked then mull it over. Now that they've made me think outside the box, I might decide to stay offsite those first 2 nights and save a few bucks.

Many thanks to everyone for helping me figure this odd puzzle out.

Dec 6 and 7 are traditionally Candlelight. I know a lot of people are already booked in for that weekend. It could be that standards are booked for those 2 nights.

I agree. But that same weekend was CP last year too and we had no trouble booking those nights much later into the year.

Hello mom2rtk!

I just checked the rate calendar again, and I was able to put in Dec.2th through Dec.10th at PPH, and standard rooms did come up at $258.50 per night!:yay:

It's obvious they DO have standard rooms available over Candlelight(Dec. 6th and 7th), it just depends what range of dates you type in.:)

That is so odd. I can still get a standard to come up if I start the stay on 11/30. But I just tried the 2nd through the 10th and it shows unavailable. And 258.50 seems too low anyway. I just wish that had come up for me!

I looked this morning after that post was posted and couldn't get it either and I thought the same thing about the price so I looked at the AP site and it wasn't available there either:confused3
