Staying @ PPH now and came back to my room to a notice that the power will be shut off on Sept. 18th from 1:00 am - to 5:00 am. FYI for anyone staying here during that time.

Once when I booked one of the Harbor hotels they called me to make sure I knew they were rennovating their pool and emailed as well. That's the kind of thing where if someone were arriving on the 1-2 days before I hope they'd reach out before arrival.

Hmm interesting. I arrive this Sunday the 18th so hopefully it is a one night thing? I am a frequent the bathroom in the middle of the night kind of person so I would absolutely notice if I didn't have a light when I needed it... hotels are so dark and I don't know the layout so I pretty much always turn on the light once the bathroom door is shut to make sure I don't miss the toilet and end up on the floor lol. When I booked they said they stated they had a pool refurb starting on the 26th and we check out early on the 24th so I was just hoping they don't decide to start that early.

We were there one time when they did that. They gave each room glow sticks to use in the night I probably wouldn't have noticed but we like to sleep with the fan/air blowing as white noise.

Oh geez! Wouldn't the power outage mean the AC won't work?

Also what is with these hotels, water gets shut off periodically at GCH and apparently this is not the first time the power has been shut down at PPH? With the water the most notice you get is a note the morning or afternoon of and a little water bottle. Admittedly I'd rather lose water between 1-5am than power in this weather. Sunday is slated to be >90.

I would find this incredibly annoying. I know when we were there last October we had to take a couple afternoon breaks just to escape the heat. No A/C would be a huge issue mid afternoon.

It's in the middle of the night though

Some people like to run it while they sleep or use a fan. I could also see it being an issue for people with medical equipment, or anything needs to be charged overnight, though some planning can alleviate most oft this. 3-4 days is plenty of notice to start charging early, buy a battery operated fan or switch hotels if absolutely necessary. The people I really feel bad for is anyone who has a late flight or delayed flight who might not arrive until 1am and will find the elevators turned off.

Annoying as it may be maintenance is required, even at Disney, all the pixie dust in the world can't help that. I hate it when it happens at home also, but I'd rather have a few moments of inconvenience than a complete shut down due to failure. The time frame is most likely dependent on when the service contractor can fit it in their schedule. This happens at all Hotels at some point.

The notice did say the elevators would still be operational. Along w/ low lighting in the halls. I was just thinking some would want to know in case it got warm, to crank the AC before the outage in order to keep their rooms cool throughout the night, and for those that needed to charge phones, cameras, tablets, etc. for use the next day.
