:sad2:We were hoping of staying @ Grand Calif when visiting Disneyland but it is all booked for when we are there. MS suggested the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier. Has anyone stayed at either? Any comments?:surfweb: Thanks!!

We've stayed at both. We preferred the Disneyland Hotel, although the rooms in Paradise Pier are consistently bigger. Preferred pool and resort atmosphere at Disneyland Hotel. Both, however, were very nice.

It's been too long since I stayed a DLH to comment on that hotel but I've stayed at PP and would again. The grounds aren't as big or nice as DLH but the room was good. And, if you do a theme park view it is right across the street from DCA. The room was quite large for a Disney hotel.

I have stayed at GCH a couple of times, but never PPH or DLH. That said, we have visited both.
In our opinion, DLH would be worthy of a deluxe status, but PPH would not. The PPH didn't look nearly as well kempt as other WDW/DLR resorts, but it's possible I was there on an off day. It also looked a lot more plain than other Disney Resorts.

One more thing - if you do DLH you may want to do the premium theme park view since I believe that is the one tower that has been refurbished so far. Those rooms look great IMO!

I haven't stayed at PP, but when we can't stay at GC we like to stay at DL hotel. It is nice. And some of the rooms have been renovated.

We have stayed at the PPH twice, and enjoyed it both times. It was very clean, the rooms all had a pull out couch for extra space, and the boys loved the water slide and pool area.

I haven't stayed on points at PPH (so if relative value is an issue for this decision, I can't speak to that), but I've stayed there 3 times now, and the more I think about the various hotels, the more I realize it's really my favorite. Big rooms, pullout couch, sunscreen smell pumped in, big Goofy with the surfboard, really good dining at PCH Grill (I mean, not gourmet, but it's a good menu in our opinion, and if you can't finish your adult beverage, they'll let you take it up to your room), upbeat happy interior...

We stayed at DLH on points, but that was when you could book concierge with the points so it was a much better value. I was happy to be there, it made me smile, but...I just didn't get as into it as I thought I would. The grounds are pretty, but available to anyone just walking through (so it might not be fair of me to include PCH Grill as a reason to like PPH, but it was the *taking an unfinished drink back to the room* thing that got me).

And unless you plan to take the monorail into and from Tomorrowland every single day, in my experience, the walk from PPH to the parks and back is shorter than to/from DLH, IF you take the disboards shortcut and ignore the signage in the hotel itself. :)

Do you mind me asking when you were planning to stay at the GC?

We don't have set dates yet but sometime June or July. MS said Grand Calif is full all June/July except couple of days here and there.

I have yet to stay in a hotel, anywhere, that doesn't allow you to do this.
I should add that I stay approx 175 nights/year in hotels..

I have stayed at both DLH and PP. I love DLH the best much bigger and closer to the park and downtown disney.

Really, i just looked at a week in late June and GCH is available. if you have your heart set on it, you should check your dates again.

We have never stayed at PPH, have stayed at both DLH and GCH. We walked through PPH on our last trip and must say we were not impressed with the lobby or the first floor...we did not see a room, however. Our children said the part we walked through reminded them of a hospital.

We stayed at the PP twice and enjoyed ourselves both times. It was clean (clean freak here!), roomy and had great views of DCA. Can't beat the theme park view. The kids also loved the waterslide. That being said, we are planning to stay at the DL hotel this summer because of their pool.

My mom and I stayed at the PPH last June on our first trip to DLR and loved it. The room was really big and we had a beautiful view DCA. I loved the decor and the smell inside the hotel was lovely. While in California we bought into DVC so now we will be staying in the villa's when we go this April. Call me strange but I would rather stay at the PPH than the DLH, even though I have never stayed there. No particular reason, I just prefer it :confused3

OK. I don't ever do such a thing, and would never have thought I could take it back...so I was blown away!

Do you think DLH would do it, since they don't know where you're going while walking the grounds from, say, GK to your tower?

Since they are using DVC points, they cannot stay at the hotel part of the Grand anymore. They can only use their points at the Villas.
