Paradise Pier Concierge Room

"Worth" is different for everyone. If you are looking at it strictly from a financial side- and asking if you will get your moneys worth in food and drinks- then probably not worth it. Unless you are a large group going. If you had 3 teen boys that can put away the food, then maybe!

The breakfast is small. Its cold cereal, pastries, fruit, etc. Its an ok way to get the day started, but its not a big full meal. YOu can take 2 drinks with you each time you leave the conc lounge. We stocked the fridge in our room and took drinks to the park. We quickly decided that while it was nice to not have to spend the money in the park, we didnt like warm drinks. And, drinks get heavy to carry around. We didnt think about it until much later but we could have asked for cups of ice in the park to get our drinks cold again. The evening snack time was hard for us to get to. It was help during a time that we were usually holding a spot of fireworks in the park. We made it one night. We never did use the DVD's and dvd players. We just werent in our room enough to watch movies.

We did enjoy the turn down sevice everyday. It was nice to know the conc. staff was there if we needed anything, but didnt really use them that much. Express check in was very nice, but not worth paying for.

"worth it" is a relative statement. We stayed at PPh for the 1st time in Feb and had a wonderful time. Since it was our son's 9th birthday we decided to splurge and do concierge. We paid $269/night(with AP discount) and had a great time. They upgraded uo to a DCA view and my son loved waking up and seing his 2 favorite rides (California Screamin' & Tower of Terror) out the window each morning and night. I believe the difference in price for concierge was $70/night for our stay. We did have continental breakfast there each morning and always grabbed our 2 drinks per person each time we left the lounge. In the afternoons we'd go back for snacks before we'd head to the pool. We only took adavantage of their 5-7pm wine and beers once and it was great. The service was awesome, and the staff extremely friendly. To us concierge was worth it. Would we do it everytime? Probably not. Did we eat and drink enough to offset the cost? Some days we did, other we didn't. Did we have a great time? Absolutely.

FYI, it was $10 cheaper to stay at GCH than PPH w/concierge for our stay. But since we hadn't stayed at PPH before and could not afford GCH concierge, we opted for PPH and are glad we did. The pool is not as elaborate as GCH or DLH but it was equally fun. Our 9 and 5 yo had a great time.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and booked it. It came to $289 a night with discount, vs $225 standard. So, the difference was $64. There are 5 of us going. I figured that is less pre-snack shopping that I am going to have to do, the better. So, I wont have to do a special shopping trip and I wont have to lug it around.

5 people at 2 drinks @ 2.89 equals $28.90 x 3 equals $86.80

The main reason that I decided was my ds is mildly autist but loves Disneyland. So, I figured when he get tired, we can go back to the room have a snack watch a movie or go swimming and then go back to the park..

Few more questions-
1) Do the kids get 2 drinks too? 3 yo?
2) Is there a limit on how many times you can go in?
3) What type of movies do they have available?

Thanks,
Lisa

oops, my math is wrong- the rate is $279 vs $225, so difference is $54

1. Yes, each person in your party can get up to 2 drinks per person. 3 yo's included.
2. I don't believe there's a limit as to how many times you can go in. We've headed straight to the lounge coming back from the park and snagging 2 drinks. Changing into bathing suits and heading back to lounge for snacks & drinks. Going swiming, then upstairs to change and another trip to the lounge before we head back to the park. We didn't always get 2 drinks each time. Sometimes it was to grab a bag of chips or cookies, or fruits. They never cared how often we went.
3. We never had time to borrow movies, but I'm assuming they's have a full collection of disney movies. I believe there are also game boarsd you can borrow as well. Again we didn't borrow any of these since we never had the time.

For a difference of $54/night, it sounds like it would be worth it for your party. We loved the convenience of the conierge lounge and hope you enjoy it too. I don't know if it's done for everybody in concierge or if we were just lucky, but on our 1st night's turndown, we got a platter of 4 chocolate dipped mickey ricecrispy treats. It was ds's actual 9th bithday and he was so excited that Mickey remembered to send him something special.

We did tell them and had it noted in our reservation. When we checked in at the lounge they also had an autographed photo waiting for ds and dd. That 1st night, I had to run back to our room. That's when I saw a cm with a cart full of rice crispy treat platters. He was knocking on doors on our floor and since one room had a do no distrub sign, he placed it in front of their door. The rice crispy treat platter was waiting for us near the coffee maker when i entered our room. It was a nice surprise and delicious too.

We stayed there last month and paid extra for the conicerge service. It was well worth it. Unlimited snacks and we actually ate the evening snacks for dinner. I figure we saved at least $100 per day for the four of us just on food. We would eat a big breakfast, hit the park, come back at around 5 when they put out the evening snacks, eat again, go back to the park and not eat again until the next day. There was also a computer in the room to use...as well as Disney movies and newspapers.
