Has anyone gone to Paradise Beach in Cozumel on their own? Is it someplace you would recommend? How much was the cab? How long did it take to get their? Is there an admission fee? What else can you tell me about it?

Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to figure out if we want to go there.

We did - we just went out past the shops and grabbed a cab. I can't remember how long it took, but not long... maybe 10 min? I don't remember how much it cost either - but it wasn;t too much.

We went on a rainy-ish day so it was pretty dead, but it was fun and I enjoyed it! The people were nice. :)

We're going to try it on our cruise next week. I've read lots of reviews on tripadvisor. Look up Paradise Beach Cozumel on trip advisor for reviews, photos, etc. Seems reasonable. I should be able to let you know what our experience was after we get back, but I've heard good things from most reviewers if you don't want to go the all inclusive route.

10 minutes is about right. We were there last year, before the renovation and plan to go on our cruise in September. We loved it. It costs just $2 to rent a chair and $12 for the day for use of the toys. While purchase of food is not required, it is encouraged and the food was quite good.

def 10-15 minutes to get there. i think the cab ride was $14-15, total? $2/chair plus a suggested one beverage per person.

totally worth it, IMO.

We did Paradise Beach a few weeks ago. Fantastic. Easy to get to. I will say this, we walked through the shopping area to the taxi stand. We did it on our own.

When we arrived at the beach, our beach "neighbors" got sucked in by a salesperson and he said he would take them to Paradise Beach for $50per person. They paid about $200 to get there and back and wristbands...we paid about $60 for the same thing by doing it on our own! So, beware, don't do a tour....just take the taxi yourself.

The taxis are very organized and have a fixed rate. Returning, the taxis are lined up, and there are Paradise employees there to hail a taxi for you. Reminds you a lot of airport pick-up. Don't worry, its a huge busy area, there will always be a cab there for returns!
The loaded nachos are fabulous!

We went a few years ago and loved it.

Here are a couple things that I never read before we went and that took me by surprise...

First - the taxi ride wasn't that long (I'd say 15 minutes maybe?) but you do drive out of town and thru sort of deserted looking area. It wasn't what I expected (I was picturing an area more like Cocoa Beach with lots of resorts and stuff along the drive) and so that combined with being in Mexico with a driver that didn't speak English made me a little uncomfortable.

Second - We had a great lunch on the beach (my son got blackened mahi mahi that was to die for!), but I hadn't worried about bringing cash and just planned to use a credit card. (Thought that was safer than carrying a lot of cash.) At the bottom of the menu, though, it does state that a 20% service fee will be added for credit card transactions. Ouch! So on top of a tip, we also paid the 20% credit card fee. Next time, if we go back, I"ll make sure we bring cash!

We went last summer....went past all the shops and grabbed a cab...$13 one-way, about 10min drive. The beach was beautiful, and the servers were fantastic! There is no admission charge. We did end up spending about $70 (incl a very hefty tip) on food (get the fajitas!) and buckets of beer. It was a GREAT day! I'd recommend it to anyone! Bring your sunscreen!

Loved it when we went 2 years ago... They've since built a really nice pool....

I can't remember what the cab ride was. I think we negotiated with some guy for the cab ride and wristbands. Something like $25 pp.

The owner is Canadian I think... Very cool people.

We arrived a day after a pretty mean storm... so the water was pretty murky that day. But we had fun anyway.

Drink and food prices are reasonable... I completely wore myself out climbing that stupid iceberg float...

I can't imagine stopping at Cozumel and *not* spending the day at Paradise Beach!! Gorgeous beach and facilities, super nice people, great food, lots of fun for kids and teens and relaxation for the rest of us. :goodvibes

The new pool is SO nice... I spent more time there this past cruise than beachfront like usual. It is HUGE, with a kind of shelf around the whole inside perimeter of the pool, with chaise lounges on this shelf the whole way around. The water comes up to just the bottom of the lounges, and it is absolute bliss to lie there with the water lapping at you, cool but not waterlogged. Just awesome. :cloud9:

Can't wait to be back there again next year!

Thanks for all the reviews and information.
We did not have anything booked for Cozumel so now we will plan on going to Paradise Beach :)

Is there a fee to get in?
What are the "wristbands" about?

The only fee to get in is the $2 rental for the chairs. The wristbands are for use of all the water toys, which cost $12 for the day.

Hi we went last July, it was great, we got a cab outside on our own, can't remember the price but not much. The only thing is that the sea was quite murky and dirty (had read this on previous posts too) so I spent most of the time in the pool, which was great. Food was great, there were loads of people from other cruise ships too, but good friendly atmosphere. Also computers at the bar free to use with free internet access. Great for a quick message home.
