I'm trying to figure out what time to make dinner reservations for the BBQ ranch place, and would like to see a parade at some point too. I'm thinking (based on prior week schedule) that the parades are at 4 and 6:30.

My son will have an afternoon nap, and then we'll return to the park. I'm thinking we'd get to the park around 4, and was contemplating a 5 pm reservation at the BBQ place.

How long does a parade take?
Would it be better to enter the park via the maingate or monorail to make a 5 pm reservation in Frontierland?
Would it be conceivable to leave dinner in Frontierland and catch the 6:30 parade? Or, will we not be able to see anything because everyone would have staked out spots?

I would rather come back a little earlier. The parade is going to start at 4pm next to IASW. Take about 15 minutes to get to Townsquare but people will already be set up to watch. Maybe you will get luck and there will be a spot in the town square to comfortably see from.

If you can't come back earlier. Post dinner will be about 5:45 or 6. Make your way across the back of Fantasyland and find a spot anywhere along the parade route. This way you will be there about 45 minutes ahead of time and likely find a good spot for your son to watch from.

Just a heads up, apparently the parade lasts 45 minutes (as of soft opening, so it may have been adjusted slightly since) from the first float to the last float.

I would check and see what the lastest they have dinner reservations. We were told 1900 last year and we did close the place down.

At the BBQ we've never needed reservations....even our trip a couple weeks ago we just walked up, had a party of 3 and took about 10 minutes to get a table.

We did the exact same thing on Memorial Day. We went back to the hotel for nap time and returned to the parks at about 4:45. One thing to note is that the parade will just be wrapping up at the front of the park at that point and will be pretty crowded, so the monorail might be a better choice.

However, we were able to easily make it back to the Ranch and were seated a few minutes after 5. We were pretty leisurely throughout dinner and also ordered the chocolate chip cookie bake (so yummy) and wrapped up around 6:15. We then headed over to the iasw promenade area and we easily got a great spot for the parade. I feel like most people head to the front or center of the park for the parade and forget about the great viewing areas back by the alice rides and iasw.

Have a great time!!!

Okay great, thanks! With a 2 year old and nap time, we'll have a little less flexibility with times. Thanks for the info.
