Finally processing our photos from our trip in December. For the Festival of Fantasy Parade, it was a beautiful sunny day. We stood inside the hub just as the parade comes across the bridge and turns the corner. I chose there because that was the only spot we could get curbside, basically. We got some absolutely amazing shots and some not so great, mainly because of the lighting. Everything coming around the corner ended up severely backlit, and everything after around the corner is lovely. It's nothing I can't fix up, but if you're looking for super photos on a sunny day I would suggest standing, well, pretty much anywhere other than where I stood :rotfl2: I wasn't thinking lighting at all.

99% of amateur photographers never give one moments thought to lighting. And the bizarre thing about that is that light is photography Period. The very best thing an amateur can learn is to always have the sun hitting you in the back of the head when a shot is important. Now I know there are some very creative shots with back lighting and side lighting, but that is for the advanced photographers. If you want you photos to improve immensely start thinking about the sun. And if there is no sun then turn on your flash.

Agreed. Sometimes you just don't have a choice - If I wanted to take photos I needed a curbside spot so my 5yo could see so that I wouldn't have to hold her the whole time, and that was the only spot left. I'm just happy I used the good camera so that everything's RAW and I can fix it.
