Parade Crashers & Line Cutters

Kaysmommie you were totally in the right for what you said to the lady that sat on your kids. If it would have been my son I would have done the same thing. We are going to DW in 6 days and I just hope that we can see the parades without too many problems with rude people. And those people who say that DW is for kids are crazy, I sobbed when I made my resort ressies and sobbed when I made my ADR's. I have my 5 yr old DS telling me I can make it 6 more days just try not to think about it.

:rotfl2: You sound like me. My DD7 makes fun of me because I love Disney so much. I definately like it more than she does. DS2 seems to love as much as I do. Even if you get there early people might try to squeeze in or sit on you or try to back you up so they can sqeeze up front and expect everyone around you to move back for them  . Hopefully you won't encounter any of this. But both nights we saw spectromagic (we got seats and hour before) we had some problems.

well I glad that I not the only one who gets overly excited. I'll let you know how it goes when we get back.

I have never, nor will I ever, pull up a patch of sidewalk and stake out a spot for a parade an hour before it begins. I will, however, happily take up vacant real estate 15 mins ahead of time.

When we were watching Spectro in Dec, we squeezed into a tiny space beside a walkway. It was right on a corner so we had a triangular bit of space with a garbage can beside us. There was a young couple who felt the need to claim their space early, and felt that they needed 6 feet of space for the two of them, their blanket, their knapsacks, etc. An entire other family could have easily occupied a portion of the space they chose to selfishly stretch out over. I thought that they must be holding spaces for several other people, but it was just for them. The girl was a real know-it-all, and was very annoying to listen to as she yapped constantly. Trust me, I felt like telling her to move her *** BUT I was cognizant of the fact that they were, in fact, there "first"

So, if you must clog up the sidewalks an hour or more before the event there really is no need to take up ALL of the sidewalk!

I didn't say anything about the lady's weight either just that she was a larger women. Bigger and taller not fat..

Actually, you did.

I would have considered punching her  . This is my pet peeve too. last trip some lady plopped her fat but right on my kids in front of there stroller, she practically sitting in it with them and I started screaming at her to move her a*** as we have been sitting there waiting for over and hour with all the other familes who had curb seats. Maybe it is just us but "Fat butt" does not necessarily mean the lady had a fat butt. It is a basic insult tossed around. It is not just reserved for those who have large rears. So it may have not been meant in the literal sense.:rolleyes1

I kinda lost my temper on my last trip. It was around christmas. And we were in line for peter pan. a group of about 5 adults were discussing how there kids new the characters were fake and santa wasnt real. thankfully my dd was to rapped up in its my b-day to hear them. i kindly let them know that there were young children there and that wasnt the place for that talk! my dh was so upset and afraid she was gonna lose the sparkle in her eye whenever she seen one of her disney heroes!!

Another trip she was 2. we waited for the parade for over an hour. no one around us! we were super excited it was her first parade out of nowhere we were surrounded by a group of people. whatever right we all wanna see the parade we readjusted so we could see and i start smelling this burning smell i look down and notice the woman standing next to us burnt a hole in my backpack!

i love disney and i will never stop going! but im scared to wait for the parade! an inch lower and she would have burned my baby!

Exactly. I tell my Dh who is slim to get moving his fat butt and mow the lawn ;) .

I have seen generous people at parades, and extra-rude ones.

To the pp who said people should not sit along the barriers, every time we have watched the parade from Main St USA, CMs have MADE everyone but the tiniest children SIT if they were the first row of people along the barrier. So perhaps the front line of people are sitting because they were told to!

As for line-cutters, I got taken by a couple of completely sweet and innocent-seeming girls on my last trip. Usually I don't let people ahead -- I invite them to call to their "friends" up ahead and have them come BACKWARD in line instead. well, these girls seemed so sweet, polite, and genuine (they were japanese, who I tend to have a soft spot for--remnd me of a friend in Japan) that I said NO, then let them ahead anyway. DUMB ME. Got onto the ride a bit later and they had NO OTHER FRIENDS. Saw them other places in the park that same day, doing the same thing in other lines. No friends up ahead.

On that note I would like to say "Thank You" to the nice gentleman who let my DD 7 sit in the front on the sidewalk next to his daughter at the MNSSHP Boo To You Parade. His exact quote was "That little butt is not going to take up much room" :) . I don't know if he frequents these boards but I wanted to let him know how much I appreciated his kindness.

Blessed Be,
Tina

Anyone got any polite but effective lines for queue jumpers who just want to pass to meet up etc. I usually think of something good to say 5 miutes after someone has passed!

I haven't experienced line cutters on rides but I have in line for the busses many times. And of course we've experienced the parade thing pretty much every time we watch a parade. I've never had it happen with adults though just lots of little kids who squeeze in (I don't mind I let them in front of me) but when they start squeezing in to the point that my children are getting squeezed out I'll tell the other kids..no, no you need to move over a little.

The worst thing that happened to us with rude people was at DTD. There are no ques (sp?) for the bus stops there. We were leaving about 9pm and waited for the bus for a little while. The bus arrived and we collected our children. I had the strollers folded up ahead of time and my mom had my kids by the hand. Just as we started to step on the bus a large crowd of many intoxicated people came rushing the bus, shoving my mother and kids out of the way. One was pushed under the bus and the other child was being crushed between the crowd and the bus!!

Both of the kids were screaming..especially the one who found herself shoved under the wheels of the bus! I couldn't get to them as I was shoved to the back. A man pushed his way through the crowd and held the rest of the crowd off yelling "You're crushing them, you're crushing them!" The bus driver sat there completely oblivious to the situation. We retrieved the kids. Let the bus go and I examined my children for injuries. Not injured thankfully except skinned knees and hands of the one that was pushed under the bus.

I found a CM and was not happy with the lack of crowd control. He pretty much said or did nothing. So when we got back to the room, I called the manager of the resort and they put me through to transportation. I explained the situation to the transportation manager and of course he apologized and offered a private car to take us anywhere we wanted to go the next day.

I think it's sad that now when we get ready to get on a Disney bus that I have to take this defensive stance to protect my children. And you better believe that I will protect my children!

That is awful, I'm glad your kids were alright. I don't blame you a bit for protecting your kids as that is what we do best. Unbelievable the bus driver was just oblivious :sad2: .

To the CM at DTD DH and I would have probably screamed at him. We would have said "MY CHILD JUST GOT PUSHED UNDER THE WHEELS OF A BUS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF CROWD CONTROL HERE AND ALMOST KILLED AND YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DO OR SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT! MY CHILD COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED AND YOU'RE JUST GOING TO STAND THERE!" Completely unexceptable from a CM.

The problem with pointing out spelling or grammar errors in an online argument is that you have to be very careful of your own spelling going forward. As I will from now on, because a "tale" is a story. I think you were looking for "tail".

Woo Hoo - that made me laugh out loud!

maybe I am just a horrible person but, if someone sits on my kids especially someone BIG yes I said big I am gonna do whatever to get them off my babies and be upset especially if it was on purpose. What kind of mom would do nothing????

now if someone cuts in front or whatever I wouldn't say anything but comming in contact with my babies HECK YES!

After reading all of this, I am officially in a panic! :scared: I am not a huge fan a parades to begin with, but we plan on seeing several while at WDW in June. It's our first trip, so I'd appreciate some help from all you vets out there. Where exactly would be the best places to see the following parades with DS4 and DS6:
SpectoMagic? (Maybe somewhere near Liberty Square?
Wishes? (We were thinking about sitting at Pooh's Playful Spot?)
Illuminations?
Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade?
:confused3
I've tried to do a lot of studying about all that is WDW, but there is just so much! I've learned so much here on the Dis! Thanks for the help!

I was reading these posts and remembered a guide that I read said all you have to do is get a CM, they know how to handle these situations in the Disney magic way. ;) Especially if you've been waiting there for a long time. This is isn't just for the kids, but I do try keep in mind that the little one's shouldn't have to suffer for their parents moronic acts. I do have to say that a little kindness goes a looooong way with me, I'm all about manners, and someone's rude manners or lack there of don't get anyone, anywhere, with me.:sad2:

We've never done the parades before, and now I'm not sure I want to. :sad2: When we go, my son will be 2.5yrs and my daughter will be 1yr - I'm worried now....
