Where is this located at CC? Must you make reservations or can you just walk up? I am thinking that my hubby would like this but I don't know if I want to plan the day....does it really take like an hour? Even if you are only air born for about 5 minutes? Anyone else do this? Is it worth it? thanks in advance!!

It has been awhile (and a few Hurricanes) since we sailed last, but it was just after you got off the ship... As you were heading to the tram (or walkway to the beach). It does take about an hour since you are not going alone. They will take a group out in the boat and everyone will go and then you will return to the dock. We had a blast doing it, definetly an adrenaline rush. As far as reservations we had them already set up but they were also taking walk ups...But I guess that walk ups are only accepted if all the reservations are not already taken.

My DH & I & our two DS's all did it & really enjoyed ourselves.

I strongly recommend making reservations ahead of time because then you can pick the time that you would like to go. We chose the first trip of the day & virtually had no wait & then it enabled us to have the rest of the day to ourselves. Our sons did one of the last trips & they did have about a 20-30 min. wait past their schedule time before the boat went out.

My DH & I went tandem & so did our sons.

My son did the parasailing two years ago. When I called for reservations 60 days before the cruise there were very few slots available. My son was eight at the time and had a wonderful time. My son and husband will be doing it again and I plan to call as soon as reservations are available. The place were they take off is right off the boat but they had everyone meet in one of the lounges before. :cool1:

I just went parasailing while on the Wonder on December 4. I reserved it in advance, just because I wanted to make sure I had a spot. I had never been before and neither had the other people on the parasail boat. I went by myself and I must say I don't like heights, but as soon as I got up in the air, I just enjoyed it and felt so peaceful. I took a waterproof camera up there with me and took pictures, other people took video cameras, but you will more than likely get dunked a little bit. It does take about an hour, because everyone has about 7-9 minutes of airtime. It is something I will do again.

I'm thinking about doing this but I don't like the feel of a steep drop - like when on a rollercoaster. How do you feel going up and coming down? Is it smooth or does it drop your stomach like a rollercoaster? Did anyone dislike it or not want to do it again?

My DH and I just did this in October and we loved it! You ascend and descend very gradually - there is probably about 600 feet of rope between you and something like a winch on the boat. When it's your turn to "sail" the boat speeds up gradually so that you don't gain height too suddenly, although in my case I still went up pretty quick because I only weigh about 135 pounds. The lighter you are the quicker you'll ascend and the higher you'll go. Once it's time for you to come back down to earth, the boat slows down and they gradually wind the winch thingie to pull you back down. It's a very smooth process - I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it all was.

If you decide to try this be sure to make your resevations as soon as possible - the time slots fill up fast. We called about a month in advance and only had a choice of 1:30 or 3:30. They always seem to run a little behind schedule and by the time we got out on our time slot and gave everyone some air time and then came back it was already 3:00. Next time we want to do this earlier in the day!

Good luck - I hope you do try it, it's a wonderful experience!

My DH & I didn't get wet at all - not even our feet. Our sons did get wet though, because they dunked them a little bit & they loved it. Maybe because I said it was my first time or because I told people on the boat that I am afraid of heights & the drivers overheard me, I don't know, but they didn't put us in the water at all.

I didn't feel any sensation going up or coming down that made me fearful. I love the feel of a roller coaster, but can't stand ferris wheels - or anything that goes high up & down slowly.

I would absolutely do it again. ::yes::

We did it in November and thought it was great. Like posted earlier, most never got wet, son and I got our feet wet. The drivers control it pretty well, when we went they lowered us down almost to a bananna boat that was out at the same time.

If I had known what to expect I would have brought a camera up with me. You are in a harness and don't even have to hold on to anything.

We booked when we got off the boat, and only late afternoons were available. Some say that is good to plan that way, do this last and then you are right by the ship to go back on if you wish.

I did it in Oct and it was so windy they made people go up in tandem. The ride was very jerky due to gusty winds. The girl I was harnessed to was frightened silent. I had done it before but it was never this rough. All in all it's barely worth the money in my opinion. I brought a video camera up with me and you can hear the parasail flapping in the wind and see how jumpy the ride was!

how far in advance can you book?

Is there any weight limit for going tandem?

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE # to call??

Just curious... about how many people in one boatload?

I think we had 10 on our boat, everyone went tandem.

When we were aloft, it was so quiet and still. I expected a breeze from being pulled, but was very calm.

hotveggy - you cannot book until 90 days out and as long as you have paid in full. You have to be at least 8 years old and if you want to go alone you have to weigh 90 lbs. But you can go tandem and you cannot excede 375 lb.

You just call Special Services Desk at 1-877-566-0968.

I called at the 90 day mark and booked spaces for 3 then just the other day one of kids decided she wanted to go too, so I called and I could still add her and it is 42 days out. Not sure if this usual but that is my experience.

Everyone is looking very forward to the parasailing excursion.
