Hi

Do any of you do paper piecing of disney characters for your scrapbooks? I have seen them on ebay but would like to do my own but don't know where to start. Can anybody give me some instructions on how to do them?

When I had the patience to do my own PPs, I got the "patterns" from coloring books. Check there. I would just trace or adhere my paper to the pattern and cut and layer. That's it in the most simple terms.

Hi, Spinning helped me when I first had questions on pping. I have done a few pp's with free coloring pages from web sites as patterns, I copy and then paste them into a text box into my Word program. By putting them into a text box you can easily adjust the picture to the size you want. I have then either traced each section, or I have printed out a few copies of the design and cut out each component of the picture and used it like a template. Do a serch for disney coloring pages and a lot of choices will pop up. Here are 2 that I have used.

I did my first paper piecing a few months ago for a swap. I was so nervous, knowing it was for someone else. Here is a picture.

I knew I wanted to do something with a country feel to it, so I searched through my Gooseberry Patch cookbooks for ideas. Then so as not to infringe on copyright laws, I changed alot of the details. I free hand drew the original picture to the size I wanted, then changed alot of things like the type of dress, her hair, added lots of stuff like her wings, halo, tree and wreath. Then I made a pattern for everything, and chose the paper for each piece. Her dress, skirt, underskirt, hands, feet, wreath, wings, and tree are all seperate pieces. It took alot of time, and I don't think I'd get this elaborate for another swap, but it was a learning experience. I made the hair out of yarn, added ribbons for her ponytails, and I made the halo out of wired tinsel. After making several of them, I realized it is easier to cut out ALL the pieces of each element first, then put the whole piece together, instead of doing one angel at a time, which took forever.:D
