Hi, I have a very dumb question :flower3:. However. Here it is . Hubby and I have always had preferred passes, which my husband’s company paid for as a perk. This year, we were given a choice of annual passes to WDW or to Universal. We’ve chosen WDW and decided to purchase our own passes to Universal once ours expire in november. I’ve looked online at prices and did not see any special renewal prices. Am I correct in my supposition that renewing a pass is the same price as buying a brand new one? I guess what I am trying to ask is would current preferred pass holders pay the same price to renew as they would buying a brand new pass? Thanks in advance!

The renewal I believe is $117.

Thanks guys! I've just noticed the login area for passes - waiting for DH to text me pass numbers and pins. Wow. it IS a lot cheaper to renew. I didn't mean to have you do my "homework" for me, but i've never renewed them myself. So, again, thanks for the help. Is the renewal pricing available once one logs in with his/her pass number and pin?

Its better to call guest service to renew with the #'s then do it on-line that way you know what the prices are and have them e-mail you back with the confirmation #.Then go to guest service when you arrive and everything is smooth!!
Please remember there is no stupid questions on this side of the board, only unanswered questions that we are more then happy too help others with!!!!:thumbsup2

For the Preferred AP, the renewal is something like $117.43 with tax and can be renewed at that price within 30 days of the expiration date.

Uh-oh. I thought our passes expire in Novermber, but looks like they expire 17 October :sad2:(we had one of those 2-year for the price of one fl resident passes…). I’ll call guest services tomorrow, but does it pretty much mean I cannot renew at the renewal price and have to buy brand new passes? Thanks!

No, it means you have until 17 November to renew at the cheaper rate. You can save a couple of dollars off of the USF rate if you renew through AAA, but it isn't much (about $3 less)

MetroWest did specifically state that it's within 30 days from expiration, huh? Wasn't paying attention - sorry. I get a little panicky when it comes to my beloved Universal  Thank you all for your help and replies. I can fall asleep a happy woman :woohoo:

That is 30 days after expiration. If your pass expires on October 17, you have until November 17 to renew. I always wait until the latest possible date just in case a renewal deal comes up. The expiration date is still always a year and a day after the original expiration date, no matter when you renew.

Thanks for the additional info, Damo. I might not wait since October/November (and until kids get out of schools in the late spring ;)) is our fav time to go to parks. But then I’ll kick myself if a better renewal deal comes up…

You still have to do it by November 17 or you won't be able to renew at all.

no-no, I got it. You mentioned you sometimes wait until last date to renew in case renewal promotions become available and I was just saying i might not wait and renew right away since it's one of our favourite times to go....
Thanks again for the info!
