I was really hoping this "fashion trend" would be gone by now, but it seems to be holding fast. I'm watching CNN's coverage of the impeding blizzard in the NE. In the middle of a shot from LaGuardia, the news reporter is talking about the blizzard and just behind her is a dude in a wife beater t-shirt and his whole rear end hanging out the back of his pants. There is a blizzard coming man, pull up your pants!!

I remember when that trend started and I heard a teen girl say, "What's the deal? Is that supposed to be attractive to us? Am I supposed to look at a guy with saggy pants and his underwear hanging out and say, 'I've got to get me some of that?'" And I LMAO. Because she pegged it.

I'm with you. I don't understand it at all. It also makes me really nervous when I see someone like that. I worry that any second they will make a wrong move and we will get to see even more of show. I'm serious. I don't know how those pants stay up where they are.

And it's not just the top of the underwear anymore. It's the entire bum. It's disgusting.

That seems very rare here and I've heard more than one kid say that that is no longer in style. To each their own I guess.

Thankfully it was never in style with my kid or his friends. But I still see it everywhere.

Wearing saggy pants does have one advantage, unless you are wearing them......it makes it a bit more difficult for a criminal to run from the police, according to my son and his fellow officers.

The saggy pants make the bellbottoms from my early teenage years look relatively less ridiculous;)

I hate this look. Please keep your butt in the pants thank you! I do not care what kind of boxers you are wearing.

Funny thing is it originated in prisons as a way for men to tell other inmates that they were "available".

They were very popular in the school I worked in for many years. We had a rule against them, but the boys would still try to get away with it.

We would get them in the office and tell them that if they took off their belt and put their arms out and their pants fell down, they were too big and we had a nice pair of sweat pants they could wear for the remainder of the day. I am a school counselor.

A few years ago a guy sang a song for his American Idol audition- "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground. You lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground!"
SO true!

At the HS I work at this is still a common fashion trend UNFORTUNATELY but we keep zip ties to use when boys get sent to the office after constant reminders that no one wants to see your underwear. I did read that it is causing some hip injuries for boys that do wear them loose as they have to walk with wider stance. It's one fad I wish would leave.

Yes, the entire butt now! The pants keep getting lower. Im perplexed by it as well. :confused3 Its disgusting. Most women dont want to see that!

:rotfl2: She nailed it. Too funny.

There is still a group of boys at our HS sporting this trend today apparently. A few weeks back my HS daughter was complaining about having been told by a teacher that her bra strap was showing & she needed to get it covered up. Mind you she was wearing a cable knit sweater with a boat neck, not a loose knit that can be seen through, with a cami underneath. She complied -- and asked her teacher why she had to adjust her offensive bra strap while looking at three classmates' boxers. Older DD was still home on break & could not believe that was still going on. She had the exact same fight when she was in HS. Back then the girls were so aggravated they were contemplating mounting a protest.

I was talking to my 21 yr old son about this a while back. I hadn't noticed it as much as I used to and he said it's fading out. I still see some boys like that, but I've seen a lot more in pants that fit and have belts.

Ugh, I'm so thankful we live someplace where nobody does that. Granted, we see it when we go places closer to Philly, but out in the suburbs where we are it just doesn't happen.
