I started one of these a couple years ago and it helped me clean out my pantry. Basically the idea is not to grocery shop, and use what you have. Does anyone want to do this with me? I just find I keep to things like this better when I have someplace like here to post, since it keeps me motivated to continue.

I'll post what I currently have in my pantry in my next post. My goals will be to not buy anything except produce, milk, and maybe a couple baking items I'll need for the holidays for the next month or so.

We've got a eat at home thread here with the same idea come check it out. The idea is to eat at home and try to use what you have.

Everything I marked with an asterik I buy from the bulk bins where I shop. When the containers I keep that stuff in, (basically nuts and grains,) start to get low I always replace them. I will probably donate some of the sauce and pasta to the local food pantry, that's what I have a lot of, and I think the only reason I have so much is because due to a sale and in-store coupons that they had for months when I shopped, I was getting pasta for free and the sauce for a quarter a jar. Even just picking up one or two of each every time I shopped I accumulated quite a bit.

I think you must have one of those beautiful walk-in pantry closets! :lovestruc

wow. i am impressed. I intend to eat from the pantry for most of this month. I have a ton of frozen meats and soup stock. So we will be eating soup and pasta with chicken dishes for the next few weeks.

I hope to get bread, produce and baking items at the grocery store. am hoping to only go twice in Dec and only get the minimal.

I don't know everything that is in my pantry and freezer but i want to empty it out a bit with meals at home.

Could you start this again in Jan?

Right now, I'm too focused on holiday baking and planning meals for guests and celebrations to be doing pantry cleaning. (I did cook up some of the "obvious" shelf loiterers in early Nov.)

Jan. everybody's in the mood for decluttering and the extra cash is a good way to start the new year.

I don't know if you'd call what I have a walk-in, but all the storage space was definatly a plus to my apartment. There are a ton of cabinets too. I have one cabinet dedicated just to tea and coffee.

I totally intend to keep at this at least through January.
