Panicking: Cabin Sleeping Arrangements

You may want to see if any of the cat 8 rooms that sleep 5 are avalable. Switching to one of those will most likely be more than the 9A, but less than two rooms. If the room sleeps five, it will have the sofa bed, a murphy bed, and the bunk bed, so both your daughters could sleep closer to the floor. Until you can have a daughter sleep n a bunk bed, you may need to search for the rooms that sleep five to get the beds you need.

You are correct. For $6000, you should all be comfortable. However, it might be worth a phone call to see what your upgrade to a 4A or B might be, as one PP said, you'd pay the price at the time of your booking, not the price that's listed now. That still is probably a lot of money, but it may only be $1000-2000 instead of $4000.

Does Magic have Cat 8s?

This may solve your problem. We have asked for and be given a roll-away bed to use. It makes things tight at night but the cabin host sets it up in the evening and takes it down in the morning. The bed is quite comfortable to boot.

I know some other cruise lines do roll-away beds, but I don't think DCL does. Have you gotten a roll-away on DCL?

EDIT: I found this information on the DCL website:

Q.Can I request an extra cot for my stateroom?
A.Our reservation system ensures that you will select accommodations with the correct number of beds and ample space for the Guests occupying your stateroom. We regret that we cannot provide additional cots.

One of my favorite memories from our cruise was my DD connecting glow stick bracelets onto the bedrail. They created a very nice glow and truly acted like nightlights. She and we loved it! Your DD may want to do the same for fun and it will help "illuminate" her bed and the ladder if she needs to get down. You could also maybe initiate a rule that she needs to call out for you first before trying to get down. Good luck with solving your sleeping arrangements. I hope you have a very fun cruise!

Yes, we used a roll-away on the Magic during our '14 cruise. It was actually suggested by our CM. I can't explain your info other than perhaps things have changed, or perhaps it is something they don't want publicized. Maybe a phone call to DCL would answer the question.

I wouldn't have even questioned if she would be ok, except we were at a family camp this past week and the cabin had bunk beds. She refused to sleep on the top and was very scared about getting up and down. Luckily there was an additional futon that she slept on. I mean, for 6 grand, everyone should have their own bed.

I realize I sound like a crazy person, but vacations are stressful and I don't want to be fighting about sleeping arrangements on the first night, after traveling all day!

I'm not trying to be a pain here, but everyone DOES have a bed. Your family has specific needs, but Disney is in fact providing sleeping space for the 4 people in your room. And as people have said, you can pull the bunk mattress down on the floor, or upgrade to a room with a Murphy bed. I'm not sure why you seem to be upset with Disney here?

I don't think OP is upset with Disney. Rather, she is concerned about her situation and looking for an alternative since her daughter doesn't seem comfortable with the bunk and her other child is not able to use the bunk.

Good luck, OP. Maybe your daughter will surprise you and be ok with the bunk bed. If not, as the others suggested, you could put the mattress on the floor.
