I am currently booked for a week of FD at CBR, I have 2 days to decide if I want to keep that of switch....I have stayed at PORR twice (but years ago) and never at CBR,,,,,,2 adults,,,,,,what would you do? Thanks in advance

I would pick POR for the queen beds. I figure if we are going to get full beds I would rather save my money and stay at a value.

For me, it would probably depend on the beds too. When we stayed at CBR, we got a king bed, and wow there was tons of space around it!

We loved our stay at CBR, but Port Orleans is next on our list of moderates. I would choose the one I hadn't tried.

I love both resorts, but with 2 adults with FD, I'd go for POR~ you have access to both the POR food courts and restaurant and the POFQ foodcourt. Plus you have easy access to DTD for a ton of restaurants/food choices.
CBR's food court and restaurant~ meh...

I do love the feel of being someplace "away" at CBR, and like their quiet pools, but POR's quiet pools are nice too.

I agree, we love trying new resorts, so sometimes it's good just to bite the bullet and just do it. (stick with CBR)
That's a hard choice, so good luck with what you decide! Let us know what you choose!

I feel your pain because I have toggled this same question (only with 2 kids involved) over and over. We are booked at CBR but I am terrified I won't like it. We usually stay at POP, which I LOVE because it is loud, and bright, and bustling all the time with a Disney buzz but DH is determined we need a change this year

Based on themeing and landscaping alone I would choose POR. But CBR just doesn't appeal to me so I am biased. I love POR.

If you want a bit of a change, then I'd say stick with your current CBR reservation. Are the two adults going to be sleeping in the same bed (couldn't tell from the post)? If not, then I don't see why the double beds would be an issue since each would have their own bed. If they are, then a king room could be booked. We have never stayed at any other moderate besides the CBR because we love it there. It has such a laid back, relaxing feel to it and that's what we want after a busy day in the parks.

**Edited to add: There is an internal shuttle bus that will take you around the resort but we've never had to take it. Our longest walk from one of the furthest buildings from Old Port Royale was just 5 minutes at a leisurely pace.

We love POR but read Mickeytoontown's TR in her signature. We will be staying at CBR June 2013 because of her and her TR. Try something new, you won't know unless you try and no one can tell you what you want to hear. CBR!

Oh! Almost forgot. We are 10 and take 3 rooms and will stay preferred but the DW and I have our own room and use both beds except for...you know.. and you don't need a queen or king for that. LOL

Having stayed at both I say por! Grounds are beautiful, food is good and it's not so large and spread out like Cbr which you actually have to take an enternal bus to get to food court or front desk..

Like others, and having stayed at both, I give another vote for POR! CBR was ok, but it can't compare because POR had more of a moderate "feel." We'll be returning to POR on future trips and won't worry about trying other moderates.

we stayed at POR in September 2011 and CBR in December 2011, and we are back at CBR in 2 weeks. Never gave POR another moment of consideration after the one time we stayed there. It was fine, but it was not a resort we particularly enjoyed. My fiance and I felt like we were constantly in a wave of families with kids while we were there. It's Disney, we expect there to be kids, and we don't mind kids, we just dont have any (yet) and I don't plan to watch yours while i'm on vacation and you want to go to the pool bar, that kind of thing. Also we had a room that was not renovated, and it was cramped, dark, and badly in need of the re-fresh that will be coming.

We had a much quieter and far more relaxing trip when we stayed at CBR. We had a king bed room which was fantastic, and we were in Jamaica so right over the bridge from Old Port Royale, and the walk to the food court/main pool was quick and easy. We saw a lot of couples and a lot of families in the food court and at the main pool, but by our room and walking to and from, not so much. it was really nice and peaceful.

If you booked CBR because you wanted to make a change or try something new, i'd keep the reservation. There's always a feeling of trepidation when you're going to a hotel you've never been to before, I know I felt that way when we stayed at AKL the first time, and it turned out to be the most amazing experience we had at a hotel, so i was glad we did it. Enjoy your trip!

I have been going around and around trying to decide the same thing except I was thinking CBR or POFQ. I finally booked CBR preferred room. I plan on requesting Martinique 25 or 26 .The CBR pool seems so much better than POFQ and the grounds look beautiful. We plan on staying at the resort more this time and DGD thinks she will like the pool and going to the the island. We plan on renting bikes and checking out the whole resort. I hope we wont be disappointed. If you want to check them out more go to you tube they have a lot of videos. I still may change my mind but the only reason would be the beds :confused3

Definitely rent the bikes or surrey bikes. We always have the best time making a few rounds around the resort promenade. :thumbsup2

We are staying at CBR in a few weeks. We stayed at CBR in 2007 & Loved it:yay: It is so bright & tropical

For two adults, I'd pick POR over CBR. I'd possibly switch to CSR but CBR I'd stay with kids for the pool. Just my two cents :)

We have only stayed @ CBR and we love it. We stayed here for the first time back in 06 for our honeymoon and have been back 3 other times with DD and mother in law came once. We love the Caribbean feel, music, landscaping, pool area is awesome, DH loves to relax in the hot tub after a long day @ the parks. Has a nice gift shop, food court was pretty good, average food court. Rooms are nice, clean and always have been kept clean.
Overall we love the tropical theme with the bright colors, very relaxing! :cool1:

I have never stayed at POR however we absolutely love CBR! We have stayed there twice, about to be 3 times. The resort is beautiful, quiet and laid back. My honest opinion when it comes to choosing a resort you shouldn't pick a place just because someone else likes it, pick a place that fits your personality. CBR fits my DH and I's personalities perfect. DH loves Jimmy Buffett so he loves the music you hear in the background at Old Port Royale :lmao:. It really is a nice quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Plus, whenever I think of vacationing in Florida I think of lush landscaping and palm trees. You really need to pick a place that "speaks to you" so to speak. I know a lot of people love Animal Kindgom Lodge....I don't get it. It just isn't my tastes at all. However I have only seen pics, we have an ADR at Sanaa for our upcoming trip so I'll check it out for myself and see what all the fuss is about :confused3. So my opinion is look at pics and videos and choose a resort that fits you :thumbsup2.

Thanks so much to all of you for your responses....I called WDW today and they told me I do not have to decide now, I can switch even after the FD expires and keep my package.

I was thinking about renting the two seater surrey bike but the only ones who want to do it are me and my GD who is 10. I'm not sure if the two of us have enough leg power to go up the hills :rotfl:
