Pandora- World of Avatar 2017 Really?

If you think Animal Kingdom won't be the hottest park this next year, then your out of your mind.

Its already the hottest park. I'm not sure why... I think its because all the trees and it seems like its in a bit of a hole so the air flow just isn't as strong? It always seems so stuffy there. You'd think Epcot with its rolling plains of concrete would be hotter, but it just seems like the airflow there is better because its more open. Plus you can always stand by Spaceship Earth and get blasted. So yeah, definitely in agreement that Animal Kingdom will be the hottest park.

I'm not following your logic or your argument. If you think Animal Kingdom won't be the hottest park this next year, then your out of your mind. Epcot hasn't seen a sizable increase in attendance for years and hollywood studios has been number 4 the past few years and now has become a weak half day park. Magic Kingdom is pulling in double of the other three parks so I'm not just talking about attendance here because that isn't a fair comparison. Next year, AK will be the focus of WDW in terms of marketing and increases. That park will see big time gains thus it will be the hottest park. Maybe you don't like it or just don't agree, but logic dictates otherwise. I would not be surprised to see AK as the 2nd most attended park in Orlando in the next 2 years.

I think it's your use of "hot"...an entirely ambiguous claim...that falls short here.

Ak should get an attendance bump. But I think what you'll find is that these boards fail to show:

1. That love for ak is much higher here than than the non-Disney fanatic standard customer.
2. Love for avatar is nonexistent.

I think ak will and should get a bump next year if all of this stuff opens and it's decent...but I think that bump could be underwhelming.

Just a theory.

Well played

I'm speaking of strictly construction. 3 years for a project like this is pretty average for Disney at least.

That I don't disagree with...it's the "hey, look at us!!! Stop Looking at the wizard!!!" That tainted this project for me...

That's been a study in what not to do...

They can't realistically sell "we're Disney...we're better" when they can neither create with urgency or one up the competition. They have not done a good job of setting the bar in Orlando since 2010.

I definitely agree they have no urgency.

However with that said I think they still can one up the competition here. I keep hearing repeatedly even from a pro universal source that flight of passage is going to be much more than a soarin 2.0. The boat ride is also supposed to be up there but not nearly as good as the flight of passage.

My mom always told me animal kingdom was the hotter because of the animals and their poop

Innovation has been part of the Disney parks experience since 1955...so to say "more than soarin' 2.0" is not quite encouraging.

Soarin is just a basic simulator with an interesting ride mechanism attached.

For this avatar thing to be a true game changer...it has to be:

1. Not quick, boring people pusher type rides
2. Overcome its IP...which if we're all honest only some remember and far fewer care about.

People aren't comparing it to Forbidden Journey is many ways so my guess it it won't be a boring people pusher.

Also this land isn't about the movie per say but more about the land inside the movie. We aren't going to be living the story of jake.

That's good...because I gotta tell you, I get that the sense that 9
Outta 10 people who saw it can't remember a freaking thing about. Which is why this is such a reach.

Disney sacrifices technology these days for iconic IP tie ins...so what do you do without the tie in?

We'll see...this is as big of a Hail Mary that Disney has done with theming since splash mountain and tower of terror...but those are awesome ride systems...we'll see.

Considering costs are approaching 1 billion and we have joe Rohde and James Cameron working on this I have full confidence. I know you don't have confidence in either of those guys but I do.

Lol...Cameron has been in a dream world with this for the last 12 years and rohde gets very little for the amount of money he blows...

The only part I agree with is with a billion dollars it's gotta be SOMETHING...

for a guy who loves to trash the IP and the land you sure do love to take part in the threads LOL

if history has taught us anything about theme parks, nothing has to overcome the IP , that excellence in execution always wins

far fewer care about.
Count me in "the far fewer care about camp."
I think we spent all of two hours at Animal Kingdom last week. Had to see the Lion King show and the wife wanted to do Bug's Life. I was really disappointed in Bug's Life; what happened to Hopper?

Two hours? We definitely are different people then I could spend more than one day at AK. And what's wrong with Hopper? He was working in January when I was there. No safaris, Everest, or anything else?

The animatronic Hopper was AWOL, no where to be seen. Instead there was a short video and Hopper's voice in the scene where he usually shows up.
We arrived with just enough time to see the Lion King and then stopped at Bug's Life on the way out. That was it; too hot and humid, no air flow, and narrow paths.
Edit to add: Maybe Hopper was visiting with the Yeti?

What does recent history tell you about "the excellence in execution"?
