Pandora ride does have drops.

I just got back from Disney and was fortunate enough to ride Pandora. However, I was misinformed by the attendant and I will never ride again. One time was enough. There are definitely real drops which I hate! This ride is not just a simulator. After the first big drop I closed my eyes and I still felt the drops. Some of the drops were pretty intense. If you don’t like the feeling you get in your stomach on a roller coaster then you won’t like this ride. However, it is absolutely beautiful and realistic. I wish they offered an option for people who don’t like real drops and they should inform attendants to tell people the truth. I can do mission to mars and Star Wars with no problem. I had issues on this ride.

It doesn't drop, just leans down. Never leaves the platform.

Sorry, but no, it doesn't have real drops. To me, a real drop is a roller coaster or ToT. FoP moves some, but it's a motion simulator. It doesn't actually drop you. Sorry you didn't like it, but please don't portray it as something that it isn't or that you were "misinformed" by a CM.

Thanks, I am sensitive to drops. If the platform moves down, especially fast, it will cause that feeling that some don’t like. Hopefully, they offer other options in the future.

Glad you survived and aren't you lucky that you'll never have to deal with the craziness of FOP in the future. In fact, if I were in your situation, I would be glad that FOP kept all those people away from other areas of the park and other parks.

However, i highly doubt there will be other options in the future. it really doesn't make sense to for your scenario. The only scenario where I could see a change would be to have a new ride/movie or adjustment in a seat or 2 in each theater to accommodate different body shapes.

Interestingly - I can ride FoP but not Mission Space or Star Wars. With FoP - you can anticipate most of the drops and close your eyes - and the true motion of the machine is really pretty minor. I think the positioning of the ride, the wind, breathing, music, etc - all help understanding the visual that is going on - and makes it a tad easier for me to tolerate.

That seems so strange. ST moves as much, if not more. I guess it's just a difference in the movement that got you. Do you have to close your eyes on ST?

You really never drop anywhere. The mechanism our on can only move forward and backwards. The "drop" feeling is mostly caused by the wind that they put on you. It really sells the feeling that you are dropping. So the cast member did not misinform you because you really didn't drop anywhere.

Based on the bottom two photos, it appears that the entire platform could potentially drop, I'm guessing 18 to 24 inches.

If you're sensitive to simulated drops you need to be more precise in what you ask. You're weren't misinformed - you didn't ask the question you wanted answered. You wanted to know if you felt like you were dropping. But you asked if there were drops. Roller coasters and flumes have drops. Even Pirates I'd tell someone there's a small one. No drops here - all simulation. I luckily got to ride a few times last trip and spent one of them watching the mechanics of the ride which you can see if you look far left or right (depending on what side you're on). You're being moved around a lot but the "drops" are a mixture of the tilt, the visual, and the speed of the wind blowing in your face.

If you fast forward to about 11:30 of this video I think it shows the amount of movement pretty well. It definitely has vertical movement, I would estimate maybe 3-5 feetish. Not really significant, but it doesn't just lean side to side and up and down, the movement is there. Some of the "drops" do seem rather sudden and quick which could create that sensation. I probably still wouldn't really call it dropping though in the sense of a typical drop.

Interesting footage. So the container the bikes are in does drop somewhat even if the bikes don't

The platform does move out and dip about 3 feet. This has been talked about since the AP Pandora previews. Some people think it drops 10-15 feet but that's not the case.

The screen and movement might make it feel like you're dropping and get your stomach, but your not dropping by more than about 3 feet
