PANDORA Revealed

i was hoping we would create an avatar/Pandora thread that just discussed the land

guess not
Ummm. The thread is titled Pandora revealed... Shrug
ummm the debate about whether or not the land is worthy to be a land is so 2 years ago
this thread was discussing the specifics seen by a cast member

feel free to land in any of the other 20 avatar threads where this debate exist

Thank you! I love the updates...could do without the protestors.

While I thought the movie was ok, I too think this addition is a great idea. What they are doing is something I believe will last forever. heck, it's possible that the movie may get lost on people over the year (I doubt it given it's popularity) but I don't think what they are doing will. It really is a perfect fit to what they have in the animal kingdom contrary to what few believe.

I looking forward to the progress that will be AvatarLand....strange at it may seem but I am SUPER excited about this new land at WDW. I'm a HUGE fan of Avatar and hope that this thread gets a pin. I know that SW is huge at WDW and I love it as well but I'm still SUPER excited about Avatar coming to WDW. I'll be watching the thread for any updates :)

I still think Avatar/Pandora is a good IP to theme a land after. Remember, there are still 2, possibly 3, more Avatar movies coming. (If Cameron can get his crazy side under control to finish and release them) The timing of the land in AK opening should bode well to ride the revived popularity as the 2nd movie comes out.

This is great marketing. Open a land as new movies are still coming. Harry Potter opened and not long after, the franchise was done producing. No more books. No more movies. (At least for now)

1) Don't forget, the distance from Cape-Mickey-Minnie to the road is just about 1-mile.
2) Pandora takes all of that in, plus more.
That's still not 47 acres. If it was 47 acres I feel like Disney would be marketing that especially because it would be the largest land in Disney history.

If you consider an area only 200 feet wide and stretch it for one mile, you end up with that area being approximately 24 acres. So, I don't really think 47 acres is outside the realm of probability. Rusty has evidently had a briefing from Disney so I accept it as stated until proven otherwise and personally believe it's time to put the discussion to rest.

I understand but if it really is 47 acres why aren't they marketing that. Disney keeps marketing the big 14 acre Star Wars land. I feel if it's 47 acres that would be part of the announcement.

Just a thought, but maybe it's because it includes back stage areas sand they don't want people who visit to expect a huge expanse of themed area on their visit. Perhaps this is land that they might utilize in the future for expansion of the themed area. It's difficult to understand why Disney does or does not do a lot of things that seem to make sense to us "commoners."

Even if you take out backstage areas I am sure its larger than 14 still which is what star wars is being marketed at. A 20 acre land is still huge and I would be really suprised if thats true and Disney doesn't market that as part of it. Every aerial estimation I have seen has it at about 11 acres.

No offense to Rusty, but the 47 acre number was either a mistake, or a mis-interpretation of the facts. There is no way Avatar will take up 47 acres. Here is what 47 acres looks like if you expand off the area we know is being constructed...
