They say every village needs it's idiot. So I guess I fill that requirement for the WISH. I'll share my simple way of looking at some issues.
We are facing the highest gas prices we have ever seen in our country. But let me put this in perspective. Yes we are going to have to change some things in our lives and adjust our budgets a bit. It will take a bigger portion of our hard earned money to keep our gas tanks filled. But a good portion of the world faces a daily struggle to fill their bellies and fed their families. Let's not let this steal our joy for living. We can let our elected officials earn their generous paychecks by fighting the gas price increases.
One of the things we often loose as we grow up is our belief that all things are possible. We grow out of our belief in magic and we no longer believe in the awesome power that we all have to control our own thinking. We can't tie a bath towel around our neck anymore and become a super hero. We can't believe in our dreams anymore. Or can we?
We have, as adults a wonderfull opportunity to make ourselves into athletes and we have the opportunity to become better than we would ever allow ourselves to dream possible.
You have all heard the silly old saying that "Today is the first day of the rest of your life". Surely that can't be true, the past controlls us right. What if today really was the first day of the rest of your life? Should we look at it as the second chance we always wished we had, or just blow it off and continue on as always.
What if you had a no negotiation talk with your self and laid down the law with yourself, you are the boss right? Tell yourself how it's gonna be. Tell yourself that you will no longer find excuses, that you will from now on eat to live and not live to eat. Tell yourself that you are going to exercise regularly, it's now part of your job.
When the silly old panda puts on his amour, his workout clothes and shoes, he is actually tieing that bath towel around his shoulders like a cape and becoming his own super hero. He is not going out and saving the world. What he is actually saving is his own life. He is walking away from that 'out of shape old man' who was just going through the motions. He is daring to dream that he can be better and faster. He is believing in the impossible dream that you can become your own hero again.
I'd like to end this "YARC" post with a group hug for all my WISH and my DisneyRunning friends.
