help what is this pain in my left side , it is bad , have you had this ? what should i do? no fever, its been about two days now keeps me up at night?

1. Your pancreas regulates your blood sugar and is a vital organ. If you have any type of pancreatic desease you need medical intervention.

2. It sould also be an intestinal blockage, which also requires medical attention.

3. If I had been kept awake by severe pain for two days I'd be on teh phone with my doctor, or possibly on my way to the ER.

I would also make an appointment to see my PCP -today!

I had some dull pains a couple of years ago in my right side that were bothersome, so I went to the doctor. They didn't find anything wrong, and soon after my apointment, they went away.

My FIL used to have pains in his gut all the time. One night, he went to bed in pain and feeling miserable, and by the middle of the night, he thought he was having a heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and it was discovered he had pancreatitis. They think a gall stone blocked the duct shared by the gall bladder and the pancreas, an caused the pancreas to become inflammed. He spent 4 months in ICU, 9 months in the hospital / rehab facility, almost died several times, has had multiple surgeries (10 or more) to address the issue, and is now on disability. He does still have some of his pancreas, so he does not have to take insulin, but he does have to take medication every day to help with digestion.

Your pancreas is nothing to mess around with.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Could be a kidney stone also. See your doctor.

Could also be diverticulitis. You need a doc and some tests to narrow it down.

I'd be seen today. This is not something to wait on.

Yep, call the dr. My gall pain started in my left side before moving to my right side. Could be all kinds of things, however.

Without a question, please get off this board and go see the doctor immediately. My cousin was just diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer last week and he is 41. Unfortunately, it is a disease that tends to not show symptoms until it is in its advanced stages. Hopefully, this is not what is going on with you, but it is too serious to even fool around.

Your pancreas is located behind your stomach, not on the left.

I agree with everyone here, get to a doctor! I'd probably go to the ER if I were you. I've had pancreatitis (as well as gall stones) and it is very painful. My left side didn't hurt but one dr (at a hospital who sent me home twice while I was sick) said my pain wasn't in the right spot. But please, go see someone!

Not entirely true. It is left of center, but not fully on the left side of the body. Pancreatic pain can present under the left rib cage.

Signed, someone who spent two days in the hospital his senior year of high school due to severe pain caused by pancreatic problems - that felt like they were under my left ribcage.

OP: GO TO THE DOCTOR OR E.R. TODAY - NOW!!!!! :scared1:

Luckily my problem was just an attack by the Epstien-Barr virus - which normally causes Mono but occassionally just attacks a single organ, evidently - and we were able to get it under control... after I spent a little over a month on a fat free diet, etc. I got really tired of turket and pretzels!
