ePhotozine reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 and wrote;

“The Lumix TZ1 does offer a lot of features. The 10x zoom, compact body and large clear LCD screen are the kind of features that will get you to part with your hard-earned cash when looking at the camera in a shop.Unfortunately it also has its less obvious weak points. I was surprised by the levels of noise at all ISO sensitivities, and the image quality at the long end of the zoom is less than I expected from a ‘Leica’ lens. I hope I've provided enough proof that I'm not biased against Panasonic TZ1, there are a whole slew of reviews plus my personal experience that backs up my claim.

Okay, Kelly, I'm going to throw in the towel on this. I was merely trying to point out why people (myself included) may have thought you were not being objective in your responses to the OP. I sincerely apologize if you interpreted my post in any way other than in which it was intended.

Now, though, I think you're just going overboard with your examples... and frankly, you are beginning to scare me.

I guess I'm going to leave this board... way too much drama for my taste...

I have reread the OP and not seen that question.

Personally if I asked whether my 30D is good or bad and somebody (or everybody) can show me the objective and visually presentable facts that my camera sucks, then so be it.

Again I reread the op and IMO I feel the OP was asking for reassurance, not if the camera was good or bad.

With this note, I swear that I will never again give my input whether a camera is good or bad or what camera I would suggest.

Extreme IMO, but it is your choice. If it were me I would give my input on whether a camera is good or bad when asked, I just dont see that the OP asked that.

quite honestly I am severely ticked off when people (not you) accusing me of putting down another's camera. Not for a second I intend to do so. To my understanding, putting down a product is the act of badmouthing a product when the fact is the opposite.

I didn't and still don't put-down the product. But what can I say when the product is bad based on reviews upon reviews plus my own experiences with numerous product from certain brands (namely Kodak, Panasonic, Vivitar, Polaroid, HP)? Should I lie? Should I sugar coat it?

I just find it strange when I bash Canon product nobody says anything but when I bash other brand people start claiming that I'm pro-Canon.

Please allow me to say this once and once only. I'm pro quality and value. I'm against poor-quality and bad-value.

This will be my last post on this thread. It's too much drama even for me.

I have been playing with the camera for a couple days now and I am beginning to find my way around so to speak. It does seem like the rechargable battery doesn't last long. I think I have had the camera on for a combined total of less than 1-1/2 hours and the battery is dead and needs a new charge. Is this about right???????? I just thought it should last longer. The book says a full charge should take about 250 pictures. I have not clicked that button 250 times. Oh well. I am sorry if my OP has gotten people to express opinions that they now feel they are being judged for. That was not my intent. I appreciate all of the help and opinions

If you use the LCD screen alot then your battery will run down fast. I shoot only through the viewfinder with my Lumix and the battery lasts about 2 hours or so. Granted I am also shooting 600 shots of the local Little League baseball games before the battery goes down. I carry two extra batteries with me, only once have I had to load in the third battery, but that was on a cold night and the cold will discharge a battery faster than a warm night. My wife has a Lumix as well and together we shoot about 2500 shots per night.

Battery

It is a small battery. You can get a spare at www.batterybarn.com for 15.95 ea. If your order is over 25.00 shipping is free It is a 1300 mAh battery. I believe the one that comes with the camera is 1000 mAh so this should last a little longer. Click panasonic then click battery part no. CGA-S007.

I will be buying some shortly. I have not bought from them. (don't buy much from internet). I know there are other sources. Some here could provide them.

Kelly has a professional opinion of the camera (and camera line) through extensive testing. Never was the camera attacked. It was merely stated that High-ISO had poor results. Two thirds of the comments were positive.

This is a common 'lie' from any camera manufacturer. Canon, Nikon, Fuji, anybody. It's not a lie per se, but they don't count the number of shots in real life situation. They tend to take shots after shot after shot without power on/off sequence, long preview time, long review time, browse.

In theory, IIRC, my Canon 30D should be able to take 600 shots with a single battery. What a bunch of crock. I never can take more than 300 shots in real life. Same goes with my Fuji A345. In theory I should be able to take 150 to 200 shots (according to tech support). My daughter uses this camera a lot and she can never take more than 50 shots.

good to know..i ordered an extra battey but the charger for my xt is not a car charger so i might get one of those too for emergency situations...right now i have taken about 200 pics ( awww think how much it would have cost me with film ) and it looks pretty full still but sometimes i forget to look

can'tget... ( may i call you"can't"for short ) i almost fainted when i got my canon...don't know if you are used to film or digital (i've used my daughter's easy share a few times but that was not nearly as intimidating as that was).. but it's pretty straight forward so i'm sure in a few days you'll be fine...

I bought this camera 10 days ago and just return it back to Circuit City today and bought a Cannon PowerShot SD450. After trying it out twice (inside shots) and wasn't HAPPY at all with the way they were so grainy. I know th SD450 is last years model but I was able to get it plus a 1gm memory card for the same price.
Good luck with your camera and I hope you like it. Try it out a few times before your return time runs out incase you don't like it either.
