Panama Planning

We'd like to try for Palo brunch that day. I've read different people saying that there would or would not be a Palo brunch on the canal day. Can someone from the WB cruise verify if Palo is serving brunch that day?

You know Mike, I thought there was going to be one, but when the Palo private dining lady called to confirm receipt of my group request, she did say there were only eight available, so that would mean no for PC day. I wasn't able to even open Palo brunch on booking day, so I don't know if it was listed there. Hopefully one of my cruise mates will be able to verify that.

As an inside cabin person (well, as of right now I'm still in a lifeboat!), I'll be moving around and probably crashing into some of my cruisemates outside cabins for a peek from the verandah. I don't think I'll be up in the wee hours staking out a spot, will just go with the flow I think.

Interesting stuff re Panama day and Palo thank you, maybe they are all working on the deck BBQ, beacause that was in addition to Topsiders so takes extra CM's.

Hope you get a stateroom number soon, and a good one.

Though I love aft (deck 6 or 7), I wouldn't mind being assigned one of those sideways Cat 11's :thumbsup2

:cool1: FIVE WEEKS FROM TODAY...just about this time...SAILAWAY! :cool1:

We'll be moving around all day -- pool, Deck 10, viewing from our porthole on Deck 6, etc.

Thanks for posting these pics! This also upped the excitement level in our household!! It's going to be a long summer waiting for August 17th.

Thanks Andrew,

This is so exciting!!!!

We just got back from our Spring Break WDW trip and getting all the details finalized for the August repo cruise is #1 on my list now. We just got home last Sunday evening, so I haven't even had a chance to look at the website until now. But it is perfect timing, we got our repo kit in the mail today and now I found this. I am so excited!!!!!

We managed a Cat 3 mid-ship so we will be spending some of the day on the verandah, but walking around during the exictment sounds like fun too.

Thanks for the photos.

Of course if our waitlist request for a Cat 1 comes through we may spend more time at "home". :)

Thanks for posting the pictures. We're on the westbound..we'll keep the ship in good condition for all of you eastbounders!

PS...Hi Brenda...How was your year. It's too bad your on the eastbound, we could have a mini reunion from the med last year. Have fun in august.

Steph

Well I am the dud of this one. This is my Fourth transit of the Canal. I will be sleeping in. Enjoying some food, enjoying the hot tub, maybe play a little basketball, maybe go to myfriends veranda for a bit. I might even take care of some email, as no one will be on the internet so it will be going lightning fast, and enjoying some bar time. I know Iam no fun, but hey been there done that three times all ready. I just use this cruise as a great reason not to be at work and still get paid.:woohoo:

As most of us still have no staterooms we shall be on deck already before anyone else I think.:rotfl:

Just thinking of all the pictures I am going to take and perhaps will pack my little downloader device, last thing I need to do is run out of cards for my camera.

Love the pictures Andrew thanks a lot.

Brenda

We'll probably bring the laptop to download our pictures each night. Even though memory cards are pretty cheap now, it would still take a heck of a lot of them.

not sure what we will be doing.....I have read horror stories of people taking deck chairs to verandahs, people camping out and just in general being rude about saving spots etc...we will not be participating in that. I hope to be able to get some nice photos and float between watching and pool hopping.....!
:scared1: Really?!? I couldn't even begin to imagine doing that!

Sounds good to me.:thumbsup2

Mike, I did just check and see, and some of our people got TEA on PC day. Although they could be offering tea and not brunch due to the BBQ on deck that day.

I'll just go post on the thread to see if anyone was able to book brunch that day (don't ask why I didn't do that hours ago)!

I just noticed . . . the last time you went the cruise was a couple of days shorter than it will be this year, right? This year is from Sunday, August 17 to Monday morning, September 1st. I wonder why the extra couple of days?

I'm not complaining, though. I love being on the Magic!

HI YA,

Hope your fine,,:thumbsup2

If you refer to the shutters photo's they take them at the locks when you go through, the shutters staff can hop off and then they take pictures of you on the decks on yuor verandahs etc, RULE 1: Wave RULE 2: Wave more until they see you!

They took them for us at the first Lock and the second lock, going east, not the last as it was getting dark, for you I guess the first lock only.

Thanks for starting this thread Andrew!!!:woohoo: :yay: So if I am on starboard side......what will my view be from my verandah.:confused3 :confused3 Maybe I need to go visit someone on port side to get my Shutters picture.:lmao: :lmao: Anyone offering???:rolleyes1

We plan on doing what we did in 2005. Move from deck to deck to get a different view and spend some time in our room cooling off in between. That is my suggestion to those who many think you need to be up before the sun to secure a chair. I promise you won't be sitting in it very long as it's a long, hot, humid day with the ship moving ever so slowly with no breeze. I'm working on a sign to hold up for my family (they'll be watching us on the webcam!) when we go through the Mira Flores locks (that's if it fits in my suitcase!). Andrew, looking at the Navigator you posted brought back fond memories as we were on that cruise with you. Sure do wish the Charles Marshall band would be with us again and hope that they have that super yummy barbecue up on deck again!

Here's the "video" of the Magic going through the Canal in 2005: http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/disney-magic-animation.html

It's hard to believe, after months and months of anticipation, we will be on this cruise before we know it, getting ready to see the PC ourselves, and get lots of pictures! This thread just just increased the excitement!

Hi Cheryl, I was thinking that your starboard side would be where all the people and Shutters' photographers will be. But like Andrew has said, it all depends on which lane the Magic goes into.
If they are on the port side, then you are welcome to come to our verandah! BUT, I am usually not that lucky though....usually I always get the opposite side of where all the things are. LOL

I LOVE this thread. I also got so giddy and excited seeing everyone make plans and hearing how things are going to be! It will be here before we know it. Can't wait to see how the Western-bounders do!

So for the cruisers on the two repos with a transit of the Panama Canal, what are your plans for this long day?

Will you plan to watch from deck 10 forward, or deck 4? Or will you stay on your verandah if you have one? Go to the secret decks at the aft, or sit at Topsiders all day?

For May cruisers have you booked Palo that day, or August cruisers do you hope to get Palo that day.

If going up on deck, will you stay there all day, or just for the transit of the locks? What are you looking forward to seeing? The little mule trains pulling the ship in the locks? Waving at the locals? Seeing Mickey and Minnie on the bridge? Waving at the webcams?

Getting a sunhat and suntan cream to protect you, and if on deck getting up early to snag a place to watch the crossing.

Or are you going to the laundry that day,:laundy: as you think it will be empty?

It’s a very long day, so are you just going to wear your swimming clothes and hope to jump in the pools to cool off, stay at the bar, :woohoo: or raid the Deck BBQ?pirate:

So MANY things to think about! Not to wish our lives away, but I cannot wait!

We'll probably bounce around from Deck 10 to the verandah. The kids will probably want to swim for a while.

Yes there is palo that day but we decided not to do it that day and just take in the sites. :thumbsup2
