so my mother in law has a lot of food restrictions...none of these is a serious or deathly allergy but stuff she avoids to keep her tummy in check. With that in mind, would it be worth it at all for her to go to Palo? She is GF, lactose free, and no black or white pepper (which is the most difficult). I’ve eaten at Palo before but without any restrictions, so I have No idea how much they can accommodate or if it’s worth it to pay $30 extra. Thanks!

I know they can accommodate food restrictions, not sure about the combos you mentioned though. She would probably have to go GF and Dairy free when ordering, and hopefully her meals would be made to order just for her so you could ask for no pepper. If your considering booking online or not, I would go ahead and book, then go up to Palo on the first day of the cruise and ask if they can accommodate the dietary restrictions. If they can, great you already have a reservation, if not they should be willing enough to just cancel it for you.

Upon arrival ask where people with food restrictions meet with the head chef. Most often in the main dining room prior to sailing. I’m going there because I also, am not epi pen allergic but it can leave me unable to leave a nearby bathroom or recovering in bed.

Disney takes this very seriously, especially when there is an allergy. Recommendation is to note it on your reservations, under special requests. Your head Server will meet with you your first evening and go through all your dietary requests and will not it with all the chefs and your servers, they will also alert the Palo's team. We had someone in our party with a lot of food allergies and I was very jealous of all the wonderful food that they specially prepared for her and the attention she received at every place we went. Each evening, the Head Server met with her and she picked out her breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for each evening. For Palo's, they sent her "pink" slip up to the Palo's team and they specially prepared something for her.

I would book it, go to the main dining meeting on embarkation day (not sure what it is called), and ask questions. If they can accommodate her meals in the dining rooms, they can accommodate you at Palo. If you do not feel comfortable, they will gladly cancel your Palo reservation. Honestly, I would be more worried about accommodations at main dining rooms than Palo.

My wife has life threatening allergy to tree nuts. We met with dining and they were great. We spoke with the chef at Palo when we went there for our reservation. They took her through the line and showed everything she could have that was already made and also made her something off of the menu. There were nuts on things that they just pointed out for her to avoid. Although there were things that she could not have, there was PLENTY that she could have. Going back to Palo on the next cruise is not an "if" decision but rather how many times should we do it.

I am GF and did the Palo brunch last week on the Dream, and was VERY disappointed. GF availability was very limited, nowhere near as varied in the MDR's. They had a big table of breads and pastries, but none GF, and when I talked to the chef, the only thing he could offer was GF pizza. I didn't go to Palo for pizza. The MDR'S offer GF bread, muffins, pancakes and waffles, frozen I think.

We were on Fantasy a few years ago, and my Daughter-in-law has a nut allergy. When we went to Palo for Brunch, the Chef came out, and walked her through the menu, and around the room and pointed out what she could and could-not eat because of her allergy. I thought it was first rate!

I'm sure Palo could handle that for her entree. She might have to steer clear of the buffet, though.

Palo brunch has a lot of gf entrees. Omelets, steak, fish, etc. No one who dines there with gf as their sole dietary restriction is limited to pizza.
