I just thought I would share the response I got from DCL regarding the recent changes to both the Palo Brunch and the single page Navigators. It at least gave me some hope for everything.

Dear *******,

Thank you for contacting Disney Cruise Line.

I would be happy to assist you.

A test is taking place onboard the ships with the Personal Navigators.
On the day of embarkation, Guests will receive the four page Personal
Navigator that has always been provided. All the other days of the
cruise, Guests will receive a one page information list specific for
that day.

At this time, no definite decision has been made on whether the changes
will be implemented on a continuous basis.

As far as the pizza at Palo, please feel free to request this when you
dine with us. Although not guaranteed, you may also request the
strawberry soup.

We look forward to sailing again with you!

Have a Wonderful Day.

Wait, what? They took the strawberry soup off the menu?!?!?

Yep. There were several changes to the Palo brunch service. The biggie was removing the displayed entree options, and having a printed menu for them. And changing/removing some.

Who the heck wants "celery" soup for breakfast? That strawberry "soup" was off the hook. I sure hope we can get it on our upcoming Magic cruise (8 days!).

It looks like the Oysters are gone also? Can someone confirm?

I just did the Palo brunch for the first time this past Thursday, the celery soup was actually really good. It contained Italian sausage and bread crumbs. It didn't taste overly of celery

I would just warn everyone, while I was there, there were some regular Palo visitors there that requested items from the previous menu and they were not accommodated.

I also didn't like the single page navigators at all. They don't provide any description of what the event is and are pretty useless. I am also going to contact guest service about this.

I do. I love celery soup! And not everyone eats Palo brunch at 10 am. I have had the grape pizza and the strawberry soup and I didn't like either. So these changes are good in my book.

I also thought the single page navigators were AWFUL! We never could figure out what was going on and felt like we missed so much. This was only our second cruise with DCL (first being 12 years ago without kids) so we certainly needed a bit more info. I think they should stick with the full navigators and have the grid on a pull out page so that you can just take that with you. I did like the grid over the app, but would have liked some more descriptions. I had a hard time figuring out what was going on and feel like we missed out on so many things!

You should let DCL know about this. Others got some feedback that they are just testing it, so they ought to be interested in hearing the experiences of those who cruised with it.

I sent them an email about the Navigators, but haven't heard back yet! If anything, they lost out on money from us, because I didn't know about any shopping, spa or drink specials so I didn't purchase anything!

I think they are going to one page navigators, for the reason they want you t use the cruise app. There is more detail on th cruise app. It has all the characters listed for the whole cruise and what day and what time and where they are listed for the whole cruise. You can find out lots of info early on. This last cruise we took I used the app for the first time. I could chat with family on ship with the app with out having to carry the wave phone.

Then they need to change the wave phones over to smart phones compatible with the app because not everyone a) wants a smart phone, b) has a smart phone or c) has a smart phone compatible with the app.

and d) has a smart phone compatible brain. :teeth:

Very true. My dad said he thought he wanted to get an iPhone and my sister and I just shuddered. Teaching our mom how to use hers was bad enough. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'll add e) does not want to carry my smartphone around on the ship as it does not fit in any of my pockets. With a paper Navigator we can check everything before leaving the room and then fold the schedule to pocket size.
