I will be a first time platinum cruiser, and I have booked a brunch at Palo because the dinner menu really doesn't appeal to me. I am hoping that I can use my free meal at Palo for brunch since I have read some people have been able to, but if not and I cancel on board, is there a charge for that. Thanks so much!

You can use it for brunch and if you cancel by the night before there isn't a fee for brunch.

They will either call you or leave a reservation note in your room with the cancellation details.

Thanks for the quick answer! I emailed Disney Cruise Line through their web site and they said the Platinum benefits had been changed to one free Palo dinner and i would not be able to use if for brunch. I knew I could get the right answer here!

When did you email? My last Three Magic cruises let me have the option of platinum free for brunch.

Look at this, it doesn't limit the meal.

i just emailed them last month. The DCL web site has also been changed to show Palo dinner is included, but I know I have read multiple reports here of being being able to use the free meal for brunch, I guess I will wait and see. I sail in May on the Magic, can't wait!

It's always worked for me, see the platinum letter above.

I don't understand that you say the dinner menu at palo doesn't appeal to you. Try it out you will love it. Lots better than the mdrs.

I really like "plain" food, boring I know, but I even have trouble finding foods I like in the MDRs.

I'm probably like you in food. Palo they have a good steak. The best steak you will get on DCL except if you go to remy. They have sauce for the steak like wine sauce or cheese sauce I always get the cheese sauce on the side. The bread is good there better than the mdrs. Than you get antipasto
Really good. Your appetizers. Your main food. Than desserts which again is better than the mdrs. You will love the brunch also but someday you should try the dinner. Now I'm hungry.

Enjoy

I know several people, myself included, who enjoy the brunch but don't find the dinner any better than the main dining rooms. If you enjoy the Palo dinner that's great! But it's not universal.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The pizza and the chicken parmesan at Palo brunch sound really good!

Of course it's everybody's opinion. I should of wrote in my opinion. Some people might think a room service peanut butter and jelly sandwich is better than palo or the mdrs. When people write about the food how good or bad it is It's their opinion.

It says right on the DCL website:
When Guests have not cancelled a dining reservation at Palo at least 24 hours prior to the reservation or do not arrive at the restaurant to honor their reservation, the reservation is considered confirmed and 100% of the per person cost is applied to the Guests' folio.

Now, that being said, we were always told (onboard) "as long as we cancel by 2:00 pm the day of the reservation, that was fine. Maybe it's changed.

Oh, and the DCL website has always said that the Platinum dining perk was for dinner. But, in practice, the first meal you had there (on each cruise) was comped as the Platinum perk (at least for the last 4-5 years).

We cruised in December and used our Platinum for brunch. No problem. We have done this for three cruises now, so unless it is something new I don't think you will have a problem.

And one more question, can you order as many of the "hot items" as you want. Thanks everyone for your help!

At brunch? As far as I know, yes. At least we've usually ordered at least two each. My preferences are the Chicken Parmesan and the grape and Gorgonzola pizza. But last time I had the eggs Benedict in place of the chicken.
