Palo Brunch too stuffy for a country boy?

Our Palo servers have ranged from mildly friendly(normal waiter type), to very friendly, even sitting down and posing for pictures with us.

I'm one of those people who does not like my food touching so I do make 2-3 trips up to the buffet for separate plates. ;) I am also a plain eater, and do not like overly fancy food (I would never do Remy) but I will say the food at Palo brunch is the best food on the cruise. I don't eat any of the seafood, but the pastries, pizza, chicken parm, lasagna, mozzarella, and of course desserts, are all wonderful.

If you get a window seat and spend the meal looking out at the ocean, you will hardly notice whats going on around you.

This sounds exactly like me...no food touching, no seafood, would never do Remy....I'm weird like that. But I loved Palo Brunch.

Most "country boys" love to eat (mine does) and eat they will....there is so much food. My DH really enjoyed Palo brunch. We also did dinner and he really enjoyed it as well. For brunch, tell him he can just put on a polo shirt and khakis, so he won't feel "too stuffy" and I'm sure once he gets in there and sees all the food he will be in heaven.

I think cruises are a great place to try foods and dining experiences that might normally seem pretentious on land. On the ship it's a given that you're a tourist on vacation, and are out of your element. Whereas at an upscale restaurant back home you might feel more uncomfortable with the thought that you're a "tourist" there, while everyone else might be "regulars" who eat like that, or at those locations frequently. Plus, it's unlikely you'll ever see any of the people on the ship again, so what's the harm if you make a slight fool of yourself (vs. say making a "scene" in front of someone you're likely to run into in town)?

The upscale dinners I've done on cruise ships have been probably the least pretentious experiences I've had in a fine dining environment. We've never felt shamed for asking for something different (we've even asked for things on the MDR menu that we really wanted to try, and they brought them to the specialty restaurant for us). If we weren't sure how to best eat something they were always happy to give us pointers. If we didn't know how to a pronounce a word, nobody batted an eye. One of the things we love about cruising is how you get treated like royalty, no matter who you are, or where you come from. The service staff on the ships are experts at creating a phenomenal customer experience.

It probably helps to remember that a lot of the service staff on the ship likely comes from relatively humble backgrounds as well, and are much more likely to identify with you on that level than they would with some pretentious, snobby sort that comes in there acting like they're above it all.
