Palo Brunch - Stollen

Anybody else ever try this at the Brunch? Ok...personally I found this Stollen to die for...and I would really like to try and make some myself at Christmas, however all the recipes I've come across for this are 'just' bread, whereas the Palo version was different - it was a very light bread with a sort of almond paste within it...it's hard to describe if you've not tasted it yourself but it was delicious!

I don't suppose by some sort of miracle somebody has the Palo (or similar) recipe for this? Everyone rants about the chocolate souffle, but I say just bring me the Stollen!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH and I absolutely LOVED the stollen (with that awesome fresh whipped cream and jam!!) at Palo brunch! Our server Gemma from England recommended it and we were SO glad that we took her advice and tried it. We still talk about how out-of-this-world it was

I loved it too! I was stuffed and I still went back for more. I always think about trying to make it. I do remember someone posting that recipe at one time or another. Hope they see this thread and post it again.

YES!!!!! We were all just talking about this at Thanksgiving. Our server made us try it loaded up w/ the homemade whipped cream and fresh berries. It was divine. Could never remember the name.

I was stuffed to the gills after our brunch, and our server (whose name I forget, but she was from England with reddish hair) just said, " I know you are full, but just try this" and she brought over a piece of that bread with jam and cream. It was absolutely wonderful. Somehow, I managed to stuff myself just a bit more! Come to think of it, I did that quite a few times on the trip!

The stollen was my favorite dessert (loaded with berries and cream, of course) at Palo. I know that DCL will give out recipes since I was given the Orange-Mango Soup one - might just take a quick note to someone there and we can all share in the "magic"!

I've fired off an email to DCL Guest Services - maybe I'll have some luck there though I'm not sure I'll get a result before Christmas, I can't think why it didn't cross my mind to ask whilst I was still on board *sigh*

I'll be sure to post it if I'm successful though

The stollen was wonderful! If anyone does get the recipe please post it! I would love to try to make it for the Holidays! It definetely had almond paste in it!

I am very interested in this recipe as well. It was my favorite dish at brunch and the only thing I had seconds of. Our server pointed it out so I had some first thing. That is how I knew to save room for more .

The Stollen was beautiful! I ate some and wasn't too interested in anything else they had - I just kept saying to DH oh this is sooooo Good! keeping fingers crossed that someone can find a recipe.

Folks,
'Stollen' is a traditional German xmas treat. Several cities in Germany claim to have invented it, but most people agree that the best Stollen comes from Dresden. There are different recipes to make it. If you had one with 'almond-like paste' in it, it was 'Marzipan-Stollen'.

I forgot to mention:
There are even regional differences in eating it.
Where I come from (The Frankfurt-area) you just eat it plain. My wife comes from the coastal area, where the butter it. In some other areas they put whipped cream on it.

there's some companies, which also ship Original Stollen from Germany abroad.
