Palm Springs or LAX

We will be travelling between Yuma AZ and Disneyland over a 17 day period at Christmas. We will be at DL for a couple days before Christmas and again for NYE and a couple days before flying back to Canada.

Did you know that the population of the State of California is larger than the entire population of Canada. A google search states that there are only 4 cities in Canada with HOV lanes. That's my excuse. lol. We didn't learn about HOV in driver ed..

I would expand your search then. Look into flying into San Diego, Phoenix or Las Vegas (closest to farthest). You'll pass through Palm Springs on the way to Anaheim.

No to Palm Springs. Yes to these in my preferred order in relation to Disneyland: SNA, LGB, ONT, LAX. Even Burbank is too far for me. I avoid LAX at all costs if possible. If it's your only option (which it sometimes is for me) then I use it but me oh my it's crazy there!

The carpool/HOV lanes are always clearly marked. In the future, if you're unsure, stay out of the far left lane. When I'm in an unfamiliar area I stay out of the far left lane regardless - typically that lane is for faster flowing traffic. Note that some freeway on ramps also have a carpool entrance. There will be a big diamond to signify this as well. Hence why it's sometimes called the diamond lane as well.

I also recommend LGB or ONT. LGB is closer, but depending on where you fly from you may do better with ONT ( ONT is half way between Palm Springs and Disney).

Flying from Calgary we fly YYC>YVR then YVR>SNA and do the reverse coming home. It's super easy to clear customs in Vancouver and we even have a favorite restaurant for a good sit-down breakfast. It's a quick trip from SNA to Disneyland and an easy airport to navigate. Do I miss getting to take the direct YYC>SNA flight? Of course but this is a pretty easy travel day for us.
