Hi - Are the prices at these places pretty much normal, or high "tourist" prices (like at the McD's near All Stars - which has very high prices compared to McD at home):
*Fast food restaurants (Crossroads McD's; pizza hut; Steak/Shake, iHop, etc.)
*Winn-Dixie (Lake St./535)

I'm referring to the ones near the Palm Parkway/Route 535 intersection (near Sheraton LBV, kind of near Disney Springs).

If they are tourist prices, are the McD's and Publix near Vineland Ave./the outlet shops regular prices?

I have two growing preteen boys to feed, many times a day!, so its a factor in where we stay. TIA!

We often stay nearby at Grand Villas and Cypress Pointe. Can't beat steak n shake. Winn Dixie is also good to pick up groceries needs. We have always found prices in this area to be normal and we love being able to walk to many of them while staying nearby.

The Winn-Dixie is fine but we prefer the Publix across the I-4 on Darryl Carter Pkwy to I-Drive. Just avoid the Goodings grocery at the Crossroads; well known for tourist gouging. There is also a 24 hr. SuperWally up Palm Pkwy a little bit (after it becomes Turkey Lake) if you are very price conscious.

Most of the restaurants in the area seem to be reasonable. Sweet Tomatoes is a favorite (healthy buffet). The deep dish pizza at Giordano's is pretty good too and will feed an army (a couple of doors down from Steak and Shake). You are also fairly close to restaurant row on Sand Lake Blvd with some of the best restaurants in the area.

we have found the prices to be normal. we would regularly go to subway. there is also apizza hut that i would get coupons for and wakgreens. like poster stated stay away from goodings. we went there once when we first arrived and wasa big mistake. prices are so high. another thing we found out at mcd isthat they have the specials like the dollar menu, dont remember what it is called now, but they dont advertise it. we asked since ds wanted a certain item and they didhave it

Whenever I stay at the DoubleTree Lake Buena Vista, I always eat Perkins several times. Perkins is a 24/7 place like Denny's. Pricing is very reasonable and the location on 535 (in the Crossroads center) is excellent. I've been going there for 4-5 years now and never had a less-than-good meal.

I firmly agree with bankr63: Avoid the Gooding's market.

Thanks everyone! Love this forum! Where else can you ask such a ridiculously particular question and get many thorough responses so quickly?!

I have stayed onsite many, many times, but feeding my sons onsite is just not my preference (even putting aside cost). We stayed at Windsor Hills once, and love having easy access to normal priced Publix and restaurants, but I want to try a hotel in the Palm Parkway/535 area this time, and knew Goodings was way overpriced so was hoping for intel on the other places.

THIS!!!!

We went into Goodings to buy groceries and found things to be very expensive and very limited range. We returned our products and went to Winn Dixie which was much more reasonable.

Since we are Australian, we find it hard to judge "normal" prices as most brands aren't known to us, but the price gouging at Goodings was very obvious

Another vote for avoiding Goodings. Also the shopping center by Palm parkway has steak n shake, Giordano's pizza that we like and also El Patron Mexican that we love. They have lots of happy hour specials.

I have stayed a few times at the Extended Stay America at Palm Parkway and Lake. My routine always includes the Sweet Tomatoes (sign up for coupons at their website beforehand), and a stop at the Winn Dixie for snack stuff and some beverages to put in the room fridge. Also in the area is a Cici's Pizza and an Olive Garden. The OG isn't exactly budget, but after you've shelled out for a theme park hot dog, it seems pretty reasonable.

I have shopped at the Winn Dixie and the prices were comparable to Publix for the most part. The other nice thing about the Winn Dixie on 535 is the ABC store right in the same shopping center. One stop shopping for food, beer, wine and booze!

We only discovered Winn Dixie on our 12th visit last year and really like it. Closer than going to Publix (which is our favourite) and we thought it was good value. But the best thing is we also discoveedr Twistee Treat which is right outside so we can have a great ice cream before going in.

We had a banana split from Twistee Treat this week. It was very good and only cost a little over $4. It was enough for two people and an amazing value compared to Disney.
