More Dining questions from me!! This time for USF. I was thinking about making a reservation for one of the resort hotels - any thoughts/experiences on The Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel? How do you get to it from the parks? Can you make reservations in advance (do you need to?)

Thanks! :Pinkbounc :wizard:

I have never eaten at 'The Palms' so I cannot answer your question, but its very easy to get there.

There are two ways - Water Taxi and Walking. Both will take approx 5-10 mins to get to the hotel and are well signed, once at the hotel, head for reception and go out of the front doors and then turn left. The restaurant is on the left.

Cheers Paul

I'd be interested to know any other recommendations for any of the resort hotels - fancy having a snoop around after the parks close and get something to eat!

We've eaten at 'The Kitchen' at HRH which I thought was great and they do character meals on two nights a week with Scooby Doo and Woody Woodpecker.

I have also eaten at a couple of the Portofino Bay ones, but can't remember their names.

We are staying at HRH in the Summer and will definitely be eating at the kitchen this year as DS and DD love Scooby Doo.

The Citywalk restaurants are also very good

We've eaten at The Palm several times and we love it. It's expensive, but the steaks are huge - don't make the mistake of ordering too many sides! Their signature dish is surf 'n' turf - your choice of steak, plus Nova Scotia lobster. You can get this to share: dh and I had porterhouse (which is fillet and sirloin with the bone) - a great way of trying a steak which would simply be too much for most people. You can book and I would recommend doing so, although unless you are going at a busy time, probably just the day before, or even on the day itself. The Kitchen is OK - better for lunch, IMO.

Another good lunch option is Sal's Market Deli at PBH. Delfino Riviera at PBH is an upscale and sophisticated (read expensive) dinner option - very nice, but you need to be into food in a big way. There are better options of its kind in Orlando (V&As at the Grand Floridian and Norman's at the Ritz Carlton are two which spring to mind). Mama Della's at PBH is worth a visit for dinner - nice, safe, middle-of-the-road choice with a lovely atmosphere.

Tchoup Chop at RPH is another good choice - hip and happening - although I was far less impressed the second time we ate there. A bit of a victim of its own success I would say - far too busy and the service has slipped.
