For those of you who have dined at these restaurants, which did you prefer, both for food and atmosphere? My family likes Italian food and we are considering eating at these restaurants during our upcoming trip. We have a 2 year old son, so if one is more family friendly, I'd appreciate your thoughts on that as well. Thanks.

Well, I've had one fabulous and two terrible experiences at Palio. I've had many lukewarm experiences at Alfredo's.

Palio is leisurely and IMHO not a place to take a two year old. Alfredo's is more kid freindly, but the food is OK and the service tends to be OK at best.

You want great food, great service and kid friendly, do yourself a favor and go to Mama Melroses in MGM.

(not to mention it's half the cost!)

I totally agree! We love Palio, but I don't think the atmosphere would be great for a 2-year-old. It's more of a romantic place. :)

But, Mama Melrose is fantastic! Very family-friendly, great food, and a fun atmosphere!

We prefer Palios for food but Alfredos would be better for a 2 y/o.

Alfredo's gets a D for disgusting!!!!!!! Sauce in a jar is a 1000% improvement that Alfredo's red sauce. Palios is really not a good place for a two year old. Also they don't tend to serve as many traditional Italian dishes. They serve some but alot of more upscale dishes. I agree with the other posters I would try Mama Melroses in MGM.

I agree. Mama Melrose is probably a better "combination" restaurant.
Palio is a bit upscale, sort of romantic--tho kids can and do eat there.
Alfredo's we found to be noisy and Oh-so-crowded--the tables must be a foot apart, or less.

Haven't been to Alfredo's in a while. Our last experience there (many years ago) was underwhelming. So underwhelming that it has kept us away. We found it to be rather expensive for average italian food that we can get a lots of places at home. It was also crowded and noisy, and this was back in the days before we had kids and were looking for quiet roamntic places. That being said, I have read some recent good reviews, so who knows - maybe we'll give it another shot.

We ate at Palio's a couple of years ago. Nice atmosphere, good food, and a decent price for the experience (although it is not the cheapest place in the World). It was a better experience than our dinner oh so long ago at Alfredo's. As for kids at Palio's - no problemo. Our daughter was 2 at the time and she was absolutely fine. Only you know your kid, and if you don't think they are capable of sitting thru a nice meal in a nice restaurant and you feel you might be uncomfortable worrying about that you may want to reconsider. Other than that there is no reason to think twice about bringing a child there.

Thank you for the responses. I hadn't seriously considered Mama Melrose's, but I will now. My son (and my nerves) would probably fare better in a place that is livelier rather than leisurely as long as the food is okay. Plus, I've been trying to figure out where to have dinner when we're in MGM and this might do the trick. Thanks!
