Pale/Fair-skinned Brides: White or Ivory?

I agree... I am fair as well but with rosy cheeks. When I tried on the ivories they made me look sallow. I thought Ivory would be the color but white looked best so you really never know. Try some on and take some pics so you can see yourself is my best advice!

Definitely take pics if they will allow you to! I didn't ask the first time I went to try on dresses until we were almost done... so I got to try on all of the dresses again to get a picture. When I got my 2nd gown, I made sure I took pictures from every angle so I could review it later. I'm sure most brides get a tad obsessive about their gown at least for a bit so you'll want the pics to reflect on once you get home.

I am super pale too!! I totally understand what you mean about foundation being too dark. I got an "ivory" dress at David's Bridal. It wasn't really a true ivory, but rather a very very pale ivory, so it gave my skin a little bit of glow. The white dress washed me out. But try them all on, you never know what color is going to look the best.

I'm very pale too. My dress is in diamond white -- apparently, diamond white is still white, but it's not as bright as a true white if that makes sense. I actually just tried it on and said I wanted it in the same color and they told me it was diamond white.

I am a redhead and I am so pale, I make Casper the Ghost look like George Hamilton! I found that ivory shades worked better for me, due to my skin tone. Whites make me look sickly and washed out, so much so that I even avoid white shirts in my everyday wardrobe. I definitely have a warm undertone to my skin and no pink at all.

I almost chose a pale gold gown (champagne, I think is what the color was called) because it made me look really healthy and set off my hair.

There are all types of shades of whites, ivorys, and even some pinks, golds, and silvers in bridal gowns right now. Try on lots of different gowns until you find what works for you! It is whatever you feel most beautiful in! Good luck!

"rum pink" sounds like a pretty color...I'm imagining that it is pale pink with gold?
My skirt was labeled as the color, "Honey" ...so it was a really deep ivory.

Okay I am so pale that once a friend of a friend asked for me by saying "Where's your friend, the one that wears the goth makeup?" Problem is I was never wearing any makeup! That being said I tried on a white gown and it didn't make me look washed out. I ended up with a champagne colored gown that worked great with my complexion but the point is, you should try both before you rule anything out.

My skin is fair, so my dress is champagne! It made my skin look like it was tanned. I went to david's bridal, and I agree, try on several dresses and take pictures! After looking at white gowns on me, I would have *NEVER* done with a white dress. But then, I wasn't a fan of ivory either. I'm so ridiculously happy with my dress now. But really, it's to each his (well really her) own. Take pictures and compare and you'll find the one of your dreams!!!

My dress is diamond white as I'm realllllly pale and decided I liked the way it looks better than stark or pure white, but then I have very blonde hair and blue eyes. I do like pure white though and if you heart says you want it, go for it!

I went for Diamond White! Unfortunately I haven't seen it on me b/c they only had the "Cafe" color in the store, but I have high hopes that it'll be just right - not white, not ivory.

Trust me you will love diamond white... if your worried about it not looking right or people not liking it being pure white, trust me unless it's next to a pure white dress ( which no one should be wearing hehe) you can't tell. But it will flatter you sooo much more than pure white, it actually makes my milky white skin look like it has some richness and colour (which is almost impossible). I hope you like it!
